I Told You it would be long. . .

Okay, I think I may have messed something up as I accidentally hit text background color and then didn't know what the default was.  Guess I'll find out when I post this.

This message won't be nearly as long as the last one.

I just borrowed -- on my ereader -- a Karen Rose book called Count to Ten.  I hope there's not too much blood and gore in it.  Someone from here (I forget who) said they like her, so I'm going to give her a try.  I've just finished a whole string of books by Kristan Higgins.  I liked the story lines, but each book was close to 400 pages long, I think the shortest one was 377, something like that, and I just felt there was too much wandering around.  If she had taken the first 30 pages and added it to the last 150 pages, she could have dropped all the pages in between and it would have been a very good story.  Another thing that picked me was that she had a dog as one of the main characters, which I don't have a problem with, but the picture of the dog on the front cover did not match the description of the dog in the book.  Okay, one book did, but none of the others matched.

A windsurfer during a tropical storm?  Is he nuts?  We had a storm here day before yesterday and we got 3/4" of rain in 10 minutes.  Thank goodness it was a short storm or we could have been in trouble, too.  It's been raining almost all day here today.  Hardy went and checked the rain gauge and we've got another 3/4".  That should last us for a while.  It can stop any time now. . .

Yes, all my family in Calgary is okay.  Joshua, my 3 yr old great-nephew, had a hey-day, riding in the army truck, and seeing a helicopter up close.  I don't envy my niece one bit.  A 3 yr old & a 1 yr old, plus a husband and 2 dogs. . .  Sooner her than me. . .

Well, it sounds like everyone is having a busy summer.
