I'm trying to use my new computer and it won't let me see your posts since I last posted, I'm sorry. Just wanted to update you and let you know that I lost another close friend on Thursday. This is the lady from Peru whom I've known for well over ten years. We didn't speak each other's languages but we were close friends. Luz was 92 years old and died of cancer; she had never been sick before until she got uterine cancer two years ago (I believe I spoke of this). I took care of her for awhile, serving her lunch. In any case, we both loved flowers and admired my plants under my steps all the time! Every time I left her right up until almost the last time I saw her, she'd tell me, "God Bless you" in English and always say, "Gracias a Dios" whenever we'd talk about anything else (we could communicate a little in each other's languages). This is the second close friend in six months whom I've lost and I'm pretty devastated. The family will be taking her remains back to Peru in Feb.
Thursday, I pick up my neighbor who's spent the summer at his home in Ireland. Last week, he lost a relative by marriage who was also a close friend there. He got to go through the experience of an Irish funeral, rosary, wake and funeral mass. We are both in a mess!
I've been reading and posting on Goodreads as some of you know. No matter how fast I read, they keep telling me that I'm behind like 8%!! Have you noticed that authors are writing about people who have had really bad childhoods, abusive husbands, emotional turmoil, etc. lately? Maybe I'm just picking up the wrong books......
Well, el dog is fussing so I guess I'd better take him out. Have a nice Labor Day. I'll try to figure out how to read your posts somehow and link them to my other thread.
