Donna - what pretty lanterns on the street there.  Since you love flying and live in Northern California - have you been up in a balloon?  We always see those photos from Napa and other areas near there and they look so pretty.  Make sure you have a box of kleenex when you start reading the Last Lecture.  I listened to it on tape in the car and found myself crying all too often.  Very good book.

Mary - The chili sounds yummy.  I haven't started our soup time, but since the weather is turning colder, it is definately the season.  As for American Girl, Maggie started with the Bitty Baby - somewhere between 4 and 5, then she got the Girl Twin (the one with hair), according to the catalog,  you can only order two, but at the store, they will let you buy just one.  I am thinking she was 6 or 6 1/2 when she got her first doll.  She got Rebecca - she liked her as much about the hair as anything else - it was curly like hers.

Sandi - So were you at the State Fair when the big statue is burned down?  I saw it on the News and thought of you.  Sounds like your Book party went well, as for the lady in the wheel chair,  you had contacted her, so that was on her unfortunately.  What do you think of Gone Missing?  I read the last book and enjoyed it, but haven't gotten to this one yet.

Trudy - I hope you feel better soon.  Hopefully, the sun there can burn that cold right out of you.

DonnaH - You are totally right about the teachers, we have had good ones and just so-so ones.  This one seems okay, but I am holding judgement to see how things go with Maggie.  Great news about your health.  It is nice when you see your efforts paying off.  Sounds like your waiting room gal learned a thing or two about karma.  :)

Margie - Wow, sounds like selling online is the way to go.  I know one of our friends does a bunch of ebay selling.  How was the garage sale?

We had a good weekend here.  Mike's brother came up as his son was playing in a Lacrosse tournament near us, so the two of themm stayed at our house, as he played Saturday and Sunday.  It went well.  We went and saw one game - they were outplayed, lost 10 to 1.  Then the kids and I watched The Avengers - we hadn't seen it yet, so that made for a fun Saturday night, Sunday, Luke had a playdate and Maggie and I went shopping.  Unfortunately, there was another big shooting near us - luckily, it was at the mall about 15 minutes from us rather than the one we went to.  Another tragedy, the second in just a couple of months.  Very sad.

Thanks for all the good thoughts on Maggie's reading.  Her teacher wants to try and work with her a bit more.  She had a reading test on Friday, but we haven't gotten the results.  We went through her last one and we tried to work on hints that would help her.  So I have my fingers crossed for this one.  We did take her for a vision test, but her sight is fine, so that isn't the answer.  I did a bit of reading this weekend, read a Special Edition by RaeAnne Thayne, Cold Creek Reunion, it was pretty good.  Then, I started And Only to Deceive by Tasha Alexander, it is another mystery series, the first one in it, am liking it so far.  Hope everyone has a good Tuesday.
