Wednesday, 10/3/2012...

Hello Friends,

Make that "Warm Wednesday"!!   As Margie said, it has been hot here.  It is cooler today but my apartment has not cooled down much.  Last night did not cool down much.  Ick!  Yesterday I went over to the coast, party because I needed a coastal/ocean fix & partly because it is cooler over there.  Well, cooler was relatively speaking!!  There it was in the mid 70's, which is hot on the coast.  Usually it is in the mid to low 60's or even cooler.  Inland it was in the 100's.  So, it was cooler!  However, it was way to hot for me for the hike I took.  I didn't even finish the trail I was on because I had just gotten to warm.  However far I had walked, I had to walk back to the car.  The trail I was on, you will see lots of pictures later, has no shade.  Most of the trail has ocean views which is wonderful.  There are just a couple of spots where it veers away.  Mostly the reason you can't see it then is because the ocean is below the land.  :>)  Despite being to warm it was a wonderful day which inspired me to go overboard taking a ton of pictures.  I'm sure none of you are to surprised by that.  The bad part of it is that I think I ran the battery down in the camera so far it won't fully charge.  Partly it won't fully charge because they only last so long & this is the original battery I bought which cost about $50 when I bought the camera.  Now, it will probably be even more expensive, maybe around $60 partly due to taxes.  I have to get brave, call the camera shop & get a price.  You can only buy these batteries at a camera shop that sell Olympus cameras.  Such is life!

The above is another of the sunset as it was evolving.  Amanda, I purposely planned on taking those pictures.  I'm not usually out & about during sunset.  On that particular day I had the opportunity & the balcony which gave me the perfect view.

There has been a lot of activity here.  Let's see how much I remember of the posts.

Margie, sounds like your garage sale should be successful.  The getting ready part is the hardest but worth it.  Keep us posted.  Getting ready, getting rid of things you don't need, don't use is  wonderful.  When I lived in the duplex I did a couple of small ones with one of the other neighbors.  We kept each other company, spelled each other for bathroom breaks which all made it much easier.  I found out people want bargains & don't want to pay much for anything.  My advice is to keep the pricing down, be willing to bargain for a lower price to just get rid of the item.  When we were all done we gave most of what was left to Goodwill or the Salvation Army.  Glad you are finding books to read that you are enjoying.  Did you find the box of TBR books?

Sandi, let us know about Wednesday book club.  I hope that the change of hours at work all smooths out so you can attend book club when it happens.  Sorry to hear that Mike got sick from his flu shot.  They have never given me any problems.  My arm is sometimes just a tad sore the next day.  I haven't had one yet this year as it is a little early.  I'll get it later this month.  Last year I got mine before my trip to Vegas & the southwest because I think you get exposed to all kinds of things traveling.  I was healthy though, the whole time.  Yea!  I was going to put Gone Girl on request at the library.  I want to know what all the fuss is about as it continues to be on the best seller list.  The Fifty Shades books are also on that list & I have no intention of reading any of them!!  Sounds like Richard & Brian are both having car problems that could be expensive.  I learned the hard way not to ignore any of the sounds.   However, when you are unemployed or your budget is already stretched too much there may not be a choice!

Amanda, I like the picture of the speedway.  Before I read your post that told I was trying to figure it out.  I did notice the race car in the "monsters" hand.  Like you I'm surprised that Bristol was not voted off.  I was totally surprised that Helio was in jeopardy.  I just wonder who is Bristol's fan base.  Last time she was on I think her mothers political clout had a lot to do with it but not this time!  I wasn't to surprised that Joey was voted off but again, over Bristol?  Next week is a double elimination, that will be tough.  Because of the way they are airing DWTS I am missing all the new NCIS shows.  My sister in law let something slip in an email.  Oh well, I'll get to catch up eventually.  Let us know what you read for book club. Did Dave arrive from his trip to Gettysburg?

Cady, Rae Anne Thayne was the author of a book I got once for Tell Harlequin.  I didn't care for the book too much.  If I'm remembering correctly it was a Hope Crossing book.  Not sure as it was over a year ago.  I still have not given them a review of the Desire I read.  It seems I've been too busy to take the time to do it justice.  How nice that you & Maggie had a good shopping trip.  I love finding bargains for something I need.

Several of you wondered it I ate any of the grapes.  No, I did not.  Not sure what kind of grapes they are.  Most of the grapes around here are wine grapes, not eating.  They don't always taste very good but make great wine.  I do agree that those look wonderful.  For some reason I have gotten away from eating grapes very much.  Also I'm not sure I could reach those grapes as they were pretty high on the arbor.

I finished reading Charles Kuralt A Life on the Road.  Since it was published in 1990 I'm not going to try to find a picture to post.  It was a very enjoyable book, hard to put down.  Some of the events in the book I remember well.  It did make me want to get out to see more of the good old USA but I have wanted to do that for a long time.  Probably one of the many reasons I enjoyed my trip so much last October & why I have cabin fever now!  At least getting over to the coast now & then helps.

Tomorrow I am going back to take care of the cat.  This time it will be for just a week.  Then there is nothing until November.  I will leave you with another picture.  As you can see the sunset is much more intense at this stage.

Bye for now.  I hope everyone has a good evening.  Happy reading,
Donna M
