Saturday night already

Wow, lots of you posting this week!  Great for all of us!

Mary and Amanda~~Saw snow tonight in Reading, accumulation even but no snow in West Chester or York.  My dil commented on the snow too and how lazy it made her.  Better you than me, although there were frost warnings several nights here for counties north of me.  It's been really cold all week; I'm so tired of been cold although, at this point, all of you would probably kill for my temps this week.  But, ask any of the Spring Breakers who were here this week if it was warm and see what they say; temps. in the 60's just won't cut it for mid-March in FL (normal high near 80).

I've been on the Great Comet Chase all week too, trying to see this comet that's been "visible to the naked eye."  I've made three attempts at dashing to the beach to see it, the last one the day after the latest cold front came through.  I nearly froze to death!!!  I thought I was dressed appropriately.  Well, I waited twenty minutes after sunset.  Thirty minutes.  Forty minutes. The sky was completely clear.  Fifty minutes.  People with binoculars could see it then.  They gave me theirs.  Could I see it?  No how, no way! :(  I finally warmed up today! ;)

Tonight I went to Dunedin for the first day of a two-day St. Patrick's Day street festival sponsored by an Irish Pub.  I had to go by myself as I couldn't find anyone willing to go with me.  By the time the Dunedin Pipe and Drum Band came on, it was dark and cold so I left b/c I plan on going back again tomorrow and can see them in the daylight.  Got to wear my Celtic Thunder tee shirt!

Amanda~~If you had gone to the Philly Flower Show, you would have seen Keith Harkin of CT.  He was one of the people there at The Gathering exhibit which is the Tourism Ireland year-long all things Irish goings on in Ireland.  The other five lads rode their float today in the Chicago St. Patrick's Day parade.  Paul Byrom, formerly of CT, is contributing his rendition of "My Land" as their theme song.  Oh, btw, Paul is taping his PBS special in Natwick on the 20th, a very big deal; I can hardly wait to see it and Damian McGinty is his special guest star.

I just finished reading a Nora Roberts book myself, Rebellion.  It's about Prince Charles' attempt to put his father on the throne of Scotland which led, of course, to the Battle of Culloden.  The heroine is Serena MacGregor who witnessed her mother's rape and near murder at the hands of a brutal English soldier when she was a child and now she hates ALL the English.  Naturally, she falls in love with Brigham Langston, Earl of Asburn, her brother's best friend.  The two of them have a merry dance to accomplish true love and it's set against the lead up to Culloden.  I really enjoyed this book; it's rich in authentic detail as well as the love story.  I keep saying that I don't like Nora Roberts but every book of hers that I have listed as read, I have marked as good; I think I may have to revise this opinion. Btw, this book is the prequel to The MacGregors.

DonnaH~~Sorry you don't like our president but you have plenty of company!  My family has dumped me b/c of my support of him but I don't think everything he does is right either.  Only history will really tell if he was the right choice or not.

I also just finished reading Carl Hiassen's Stormy Weather.  Carl Hiassen is/was a reporter for The Miami Herald newspaper.  He's been an advocate for all this Floridian for many years and his books reflect that.  They are all about the crooked deals that go on in this state.  Most of the books I've read have been funny in a weird sort of way.  However, I didn't like this book.  It's about Hurricane Andrew although the hurricane is never named and it's aftermath.  Usually, there's at least a couple characters who are straight and legit but I couldn't find any likable characters in this book, except for maybe two State Troopers who had minor parts. I wanted to take a shower!  The crazy ex-governor is a re-occurring character again but he's really out of it in this story.

Happy St. Patrick's Day everyone!

Trudy
