Finally, my first post of 2013...

Hi Everybody!

I can't believe it took this many days to get here in 2013!  The other evening I went up to Healdsburg Ridge for sunset pictures because it looked like it might be a good one!  Mostly I took other pictures!  This one is overlooking Fox Pond to the hills in the distance.  You can see that late afternoon/early evening haze/mist on the hills.  I just liked the look ot it.  By the way, glad to see Amanda posting pictures.  Anytime you want to see more detail in any pictures posted just click on the picture to enlarge.  I did for your panorama.  Looks good!  I have experimented some with mine but not happy with the results yet.  Need much more practice!

Mary, glad you had a good Christmas & New Year.  Sorry to hear about your dental woes but sounds like it will be taken care of.  We have been having cold weather, especially for here.  It has been down into the high 20's a couple of nights with heavy frost.  It has warmed up a bit as we had rain yesterday.  We had rain all day on Christmas!  No snow in this area.  We have a very mild climate.  None of the authors you mentioned are ones I have read.

Trudy, I love how you swept away 2012!  What a great idea.  Mine wasn't anything like yours but I was still glad to see the last of it as financially it was a tough year for me!  It sounds like your friend Sharon is doing quite well.  I do hope that continues.  Both you & Mary mentioned pork & sauerkraut on New Year's Day, it must be an east coast tradition.  I don't have any food traditions for the New Year!  I just like to eat.

Amanda, good start on your pictures.  I can't remember if I mentioned it before but I had my camera for over a year, maybe even two, before I started doing anything other than turning it on & taking pictures.  Boy!  Have I learned a lot since I decided to try some of those settings.  Another thing that has inspired me is the photography community here on Google+.  There are many fabulous photographers out there contributing pictures anyone can see.  Are your girls back in school tomorrow?  All the schools in this area start back tomorrow to the best of my knowledge.  I'm not sure about the Junior College in Santa Rosa.  They have their own schedule with a long break between semesters.

So far I have managed to read 2 books this year!  A good start.  The first one was The Perfect Hope by Nora Roberts which I loved.  She is just the best at trilogies & connected books.  The second one was by Jaci Burton, Summer Heat.  It was hot, a walk on the wild side.  Not for everyone. It is one of her earlier books, from 2004.  Now I am reading a Jodi Thomas more on it when I finish.

This should catch me up some for now!  Here is another picture from my evening at Healdsburg Ridge which was when the nights were very cold.  I found ice that had never melted along the path!  Just in one spot.  I found out you can't take pictures with gloves on.  I don't think my camera accomodates a remote that you hold attached to the camera.  If you were using one the camera would have to be on a tripod.  I haven't gone into any of that!  Not sure I ever will but you get some great pictures with long exposures.  Mine are all hand held.  My camera will attach to a tripod but they are a real pain to pack around, at least to me!

This picture is looking east with the last little bit of sunlight on vineyards, clouds over head.  Everyone have a good evening.  See you all next time.
Take care, happy reading,
Donna M
