Hello Everyone!
So sorry it has taken me this whole month to get back here. I had so many posts to catch up on.
Amanda a Happy Belated Birthday! Oh my goodness, that pic of the skyline gets me dizzy. No way you would EVER get me up there. You are a brave woman. Enjoy your trip.
Trudy, Sorry your friend Sharon's treatment doesn't seem to be working but she sure sounds like one tough lady and she is not giving up. Good for her. I will keep her in my prayers.
Early Happy Birthday to Mary and DonnaH!
DonnaH, My first thought when I saw your dentist bill was that that was a great price. I know it would cost anywhere from $400 to $600 to extract a tooth if it was an easy extraction. So sorry about your friends passing.
Mary, I've been curious about the Shade books but the list is really long at the library so I'm not sure when I'll get to try it. Sorry about your dental needs. I have some too. I am not looking forward to getting them taken care of.
DonnaM, Yay!!! Go Niners!!! Can you believe it? We are a huge 49er family all us cousins and aunties/uncles. So Superbowl will be a huge gathering for us. We've had some super nice days but last week it was so cold. I know we must seem like wimps to all with really cold weather!
Cady, I just finished the Linda Howard/Linda Jones book. I agree that it was good but parts were a bit long and I felt could have been edited out. I have the new Howard book, Shadow Woman, ready for me at the library. I'll be getting it tomorrow. I also have the JAK on hold. I've been missing a historical by her so I'm glad to hear one is coming out soon. Sorry you are down an employee. Hopefully you can get someone sooner than this Summer.
Sandi, Wow I can't believe Brian is turning 21 this Summer. Time sure goes by so fast. That is a good idea about the license been vertical. I hope your new job is still working out for you and that you are getting settled in now.
I have been enjoying my new Kindle. I found the guide and it was built in but I had to find it on my own since there were no instructions at all to start you off. But I feel like a pro now. I've downloaded free books from Amazon and purchased too. I downloaded Overdrive app which my library uses. So I can read ePub books too.
Everyone has been sick with this flu cough/cold thing. We had chills and fever with a cough and cold. Started with Gavin and then my sister. Then me and now my mother is very sick . My dad is the only one who didn't get it. But he did have a more serious issue. I was checking on him because my mother had said he told her he had a headache so bad he thought he was going to die. I asked him if he was feeling better and he didn't respond just stared at me with a kind of scared look in his eyes. He could hold his arm up when I lifed it but couldn't speak and didn't put it down when I told him to. I called 911 and he was the same when they got here. His sugar and pressure where fine because we checked them while waiting for the ambulance.
At the emergency room, they didn't let us in to see him until about 45 minutes after we got there and I wondered how they would getting any info since he couldn't speak. But he had come back to normal shortly after arriving at the hospital. They admitted him and ran lots of test. The next evening the doctor said he had a 80% blockage on the left carotid artery and this might have effected his speech. They recommened surgery and he was transfered to Stanford two days later when a bed was available.
At Stanford, they ran test and said our local hospital told them the blockage was on the left side of the neck but it was on the right and their own test show on the right too. Crazy! This is not the first time our hospital has done something like that. Anyway, the doctor said my dad has a lot of scaring in his artieries and since he has already suffered a stoke on that side and taking his physical condition into consideration..she did not recommend surgery. She said the risk was greater to lose him on the table during surgery. So we watched the 49ers from his room and came home that afternoon. I'm still scared for him as it is still blocked and something caused him to have that episode. She said it was probably something called (TAI) which is a temporary loss of blood flow to the brain. Pre stroke kind of symptom. She prescribed plavix to go with his asprin regime and we are praying this keeps my dad with us longer.
Since here I've read the Linda Howard book and a few by new to me authors because they were free. Some of the free books have typos and need editing but it is a good way to try new authors. I read a book by Nicole Jordan which was cute...Princess Charming.
I hope you all have a good rest of the week.
Margie :)
