Hi! Remember me?
I have read the new book by Robyn Carr. It was ok, and probably better than I give it credit for. It's really sad, but I wonder if I'm getting over my Robyn Carr obsession. If someone is looking for new authors, my book club has been pretty excited over Julie Ann Walker who has a trilogy that is set in Chicago, and has a custom motorcylce shop as the front for a covert mercenary operation. I read Rev it Up, which I thought was the first one in the series, but ended up to be the third! I think I probably would have enjoyed it more had I started at the beginning. There is a 4th one coming soon.
Sherryl Woods also has a new series coming this spring. That one I totally enjoyed! I think it was called Sand Castle Bay, and is going to be at least a trilogy.
I have read the first one or two in the Harmony series by Jodie Thomas, and have the others in my pile. I need to get caught up so bad! That seems to be my refrain..in my pile...I need to get caught up! I hear that the JoAnn Ross series is good as well. Again, in my pile waiting!
Cady, you had to have a tooth pulled or someone else? In February I'm going to have to have a wisdom tooth pulled. I'm really not looking forward to it. I have a consultation with the oral surgeon on the 5th. I probably could have done it sooner, but I have a work holiday that I was trying to work it around as I have no vacation time, and this way I could take an extra day off for recovery and get paid! since I haven't been to the surgeon yet I don't know what it will cost, but the dentist charged me $37 for 5 minutes to tell me it needed to come out and give me the surgeon's name.
Mary, how scary to hear that there was an incident at a school. Is it one where one of your grandchild attend? How old were the students involved? I can't imagine what it's like to be in school these days, or to be the parent or grandparent of a student. I have a few years before I find out, and if Misty is still living where she lives now I'm really going to be worried...not so much for the violence, but for the quality of the education!
The Driver License stories are interesting. Here we can renew once online with the same picture and same license. Well, we could anyway. It's been awhile since I had to renew mine that I don't really know what the process is! I have to renew mine in August so I will be finding out for sure! I know that kids get a one year license at 16 and another at 17 and then at 18 then get a regular license. They messed up Brian's and he got a real license at 17. Here they also give people under 21 licenses that are vertical and after you turn 21 you get a horizontal one. That is supposed to make it a bit easier to see if the person is under 21. Those who have the horizontal ones also have a date on them to say they are under 21 until. So Brian's says Under 21 until 8/12/13. Oh my! My baby will be 21 in about 6 months! Where did those years go?!?!?!
Cady, that's too bad that none of the docks worked with Maggie's touch. I did finally get my new radio/dock to work! I haven't used it as much as I probably should, but I do use the radio on a regular basis. I know I shouldn't but if it's quiet and the work is caught up I'm reading my book, hence I just have the radio on, but if I'm "working" then I might put in my IPOD and listen to my book. It also somewhat depends on what I am listening to, and how much I think I need to pay attention.
That's too bad that you lost a coworker and have to pull in that slack. Let's hope that you do an awesome job, and get a nice reward for it. On the other hand let's hope that you don't do too awesome a job and they decide not to hire anyone! It's interesting that NOra is going back to Ireland and Witches. That seems to be a favorite theme of hers. I am looking forward to Whiskey Creek as I loved The Witness.
Oops...I see that it wasn't a stabbing at a school where Mary's gc attend, but Trudy's! That's not really the thing you want to see when you get on Facebook. I'm glad your gs was safe Trudy.
Donna, how is your nephew? When we very first moved to Texas Mike's appendix ruptured. It was really strange as it had probably ruptured 3 weeks before they discovered it...that's how long he was having pain. They did explatory surgery and discovered it. Remeber almost 30 years ago they didn't have the type of diagnostic machines they have now! He ended up losing part of his colon because of the damage the rupture did, but he's fine now obviously!
Donna and Mary happy early birthday. Anyone have special plans?
So far this year I think I've read/listened to 7 or 8 books. I've been listening to Lisa Gardner's DD Warren series. I have been totally enjoying these. I started them last year, and I hope to get caught up this year. While it is a series I think they could probably be read in any order, as there doesn't seem to be a lot of continuing storyline like in the In Death books. I'm currently reading Scorched by Laura Griffin which again is part of a series, but appears to be totally stand alone as they common demoninator appears to be the work place, and not necessarily a continuing storyline. I picked it because it's going to be a bookclub selection in February.
If you like historicals I'm told that the upcoming book by Annie Gracie...Autumn Bride is great. I haven't read it.
Well, this is getting really long and I should get going!
Take care!
Sandi
