Guess Who!

I've been MIA forever! I went back and read posts, so a lot of my comments are going to be really old...so sorry!

Donna, the little league team did great! Coming back and taking the game to overtime. It had to be a huge heartbreaking loss, but certainly something to talk about for a long time to come! Donna, it's funny that cooking was your favorite part...sewing was mine! I was pretty good at it while I did it, but I lost interest pretty fast after high school. I still have my machine, but since it's not been off the closet shelf in close to 30 years no idea if it's in any kind of working condition or not!

Amanda, how cool to have homemade quilts from your mom. I have some knitted afghans that my mom made, and I have always cherished them, but even more so now that she's gone. How did the dance class go? Why did she give up bowling? Brian is funny it's his last year to bowl youth, and he's actually adding a couple of leagues. I couldn't believe it when he said he wanted to!

Donna, your pictures continue to be amazing! I have the feeling that learning the ins and outs of the camera will only result in even more amazing pictures!

Trudy, I think we got some sprinkles from Isaac, but nothing to really write home about. We've been lucky and had more rain this summer than normal, and have been cooler if you can call high 90's cooler!

Donna, the dress you made your granddaughter is amazing! You have a multitude of different talents.

Donna, I have read Welcome to Harmony. I enjoyed it, and have the others in my TBR! Lucky for me they're all signed. Jodie Thomas is from Texas, and makes a few trips a year to the Dallas Area, and always gets together with my book club when she does.

Mary, did you like The Good Father? I really like Diane Chamberlain and over the weekend I found one that a friend had autographed for me, and that I've never read.

Cady, I didn't realize you had a kindle. Which one do you have? Did you see that they announced new kindles last week? My friends were taking bets to see how long I lasted before I broke down and bought a new one. Since I've been selling my print books at half price books, and converting the cash I get to Amazon G.C's I had more than enough to cover whichever one I wanted. I ended up ordering the Kindle Paperwhite. I didn't really need it, but decided I needed a cheer me up gift, and it fit the bill since I wasn't using real money!

Donna, when my friends went to RWA they went to the Jack's Bar Lunch, and they were given copies of The Wedding Party. Somehow they got confused, and I ended up with two personalized copies! I don't remember if I've read it previously or not, because I bought a bunch of her back stuff for my kindle. They are also reissuing Blue Skies which has a beautiful cover, and I'm tempted to buy, but since I have it for my kindle, and am attempting to dejunk print I'm hesitant.

Donna, I loved The Witness! It really reminded me why I like Nora Roberts in the first place. I've not been thrilled by the last few RS that she wrote, so was super excited to say how much I loved The Witness. What a great deal on the bookcase! I have two cheapie ones that I need to get rid of. I need to first decide if either is in better shape than the one I have in my bedroom, and make sure I get rid of those in the worst shape.

Donna, glad to hear you liked Scrumptious. I think I have that in my TBR. I believe she has a second book out already as well.

Mary, glad that everyone had a great beach vacation. I bet next year Jacob will be hard to keep out of the water. Did they take pictures of Lauren's first day of kindergarten? Did she like it? Does she still? Did you get the new ac/heat installed. Over the weekend we had problems with our Ac, but it was something that Mike and Brian seemed to be able to fix.

Cady, I can't believe how big the kids are getting! What grade does the elementary go up to? Luke didn't want to do the zip line or he wasn't big enough? How nice to have friends with pools. I have a couple of friends who either have pools or live in apartment complexes with pools, and never get invited. Fine by me as I don't know how to swim!

Margie, I find that it usually takes about 2 weeks for kids to adjust to school. Boys seem to take longer than girls. We have one little girl who cries when they bring her in, but stops as soon as they leave the room.

Donna, have you done the 1st trip to SF yet? My fil had a vehicle just so people could drive it to and from his doctor appointments as they were about a 2 hour drive from his home. I read that Trilogy by Brenda Novak. It was pretty intense. I can't recall if I read all three, or if I still have the third to get to. I really like her. The Perfect trilogy is good. Starts with The Perfect Couple I think.

Donna, after reading about the book organizing and cooking I need a rest and I didn't do a thing! Yesterday I packed up two boxes of books in an attempt to make room for other things. These are the ones that I really do want to keep, but since I'm dejunking print books, I figured I could put them in plastic tubs, and send them back to storage, and if I really wanted something I could go look. If I were really organized I would have listed which tub held what, but I didn't!

Donna, I first read that as exciting news to report, and then there was none. I was so disappointed! I went back and reread, and found out you had none so were signing off. This is like the third time in the last few days that I've misread things! I thought I had a meeting on Saturday, which I really thought was strange, because Saturday was also a tea day, and while we sometimes have our Reader's and Rita's meetings the same day usually they're earlier than this one was scheduled, or we do them after. Turns out that when I got to the area, and couldn't find the restaurant...I called and I had the day wrong, but the person who set the meeting had the restaurant name wrong! Big oops all the way around!

Still not having any success in finding a contractor to do the kitchen. I have one more person coming to do an estimate this week, and we'll see what happens, but I'm really not holding my breath. I did have a person come out and talk to me about rebuilding the laundry room walls that we discovered were bad. So now I'm trying to get a hold of him to set up a time to come and do the work. This is an Elijah week, so I need it done when we don't have him.

Yes, you read that right...an Elijah week.He and Richard weren't going to move in, but Richard unfortuantely got laid off. They told everyone who was contract they would convert them, and then 2 weeks later they let them all go. We are all upset, and it's going to be a huge adjustment all the way around. Hopefully he gets a job soon!

I can't even really recall what I've read! I did listen to the new Mary Kay Andrews book, and am now listening to the new Nancy Thayer Book....Summer Breeze. I read Beth Ciotta's new book, and the start of a series...man is my mind bad or what I can't recall that title either. Maybe The Cupcake Lovers Club...something about cupcakes anyway!

Brian bowled in a labor day tournament and did awful. I can't even really recall what I did for the holiday, other than dejunking some of my print books. I know at least one trip was made to The Container Store. I got some cool under the bed drawers that are for Richard's room. I need to get two more of those, and might be able to get it today if I get to leave work early enough before I have to be at bookclub.

Ok...I've bored you enough for one day. I'll try to do better at being here more.

Sandi
