Wednesday, 9/5/2012...

Hi Friends,

I have to remind myself the month is 9/September!!  I'm still starting 8, then telling myself...wrong!

When I ran away to the coast last week this is what it looked like when I first arrived!  The fog never bothers me because no matter what the conditions are it is always beautiful, for me always fascinating.  This one is at Goat Rock.

Cady, thanks for sharing the pictures of your kids.  Your daughter is brave to do the ropes!   When my girls were in school I always liked them going back after the summer so we had a "normal" routine again.  Not to mention I had some time to myself as I did not work out of the home.

Mary, I do hope Don's tendonitis won't stop you from getting to go on a trip.  This is my favorite time of year to travel.  So many places get the best weather from now until it starts getting rainy or snow falling.  Last year we had wonderful fall color which I am hoping happens again so I can take more pictures!!  I look forward to hearing about Lauren's first days in school.

I just found out that the Free Bookmobile will be coming to our apartment complex next Tuesday.  I rarely find anything I want but usually I donate books to them.  The books are yours to keep which I think means they really completely rely on donations.  It is a great thing for those that are not as mobile as some of us.  The schedule is not consistent but we always get a notice when they are going to come.  I'm not sure just where else they go.

Our weather today is a bit strange as south of us they have some weather prodcuing some thunder & lightening.  We haven't had any here but it is overcast & a bit humid.  The sun has tried poking through but is not successful so far.

Yesterday down in the Bay Area a CHP officer was shot.  He is on life support & will not survive.  I think they are keeping him alive so his family can get there.  I also wondered if maybe his organs would be donated.  He is only 37, married with a wife & 4 children.  It is so sad as it was a routine traffic stop.  All the CHP officers in the area plus other agencies are offering whatever support is needed.  Like the military they never leave him alone someone is always there for him.  It really breaks my heart to see this type of thing happen.  My grandfather was in the first group of men that were State Police in Oregon.  I also worked as a dispatcher for a very short time at the Cloverdale Police Department.  It gave me great respect for what law enforcement deals with.

Since I don't want to leave on that sad note here is a picture that is a little more upbeat.  By the way, it is nice to have this blog where we can air our feelings.  Thanks.

This is looking up toward Hwy. 1 from the Kortum Trail.  Later I will post some pictures on the trail.  This picture is to small to see but there are bicyclist on the road.  You can also see that to the east away from the coast there is blue sky!

Have a good evening everyone.  Happy reading.
Donna M
