Monday, 9/10/2012...

Hello Everyone,

This picture was a try at a panorama picture with my camera.  I did not choose the location or do much in the way of composition but thought I'd share it with you anyway.  I'll be playing with this some more!

Sandi, so happy to see you here as I miss your posts.  They are always interesting.  I'm so sorry to hear that Richard lost his job.  That is so difficult as I've experienced it several times.  You think everything is okay & all of a sudden they have decided to make changes or it is a budget issue or whatever!  It always made me feel like it was me!!  I wish him good luck in the job market.  Enjoy Elijah while they are there.  Texas must be very different than California in regards to your kitchen.  It seems to me there must be a qualified person that would be happy to do it.  I do know from listening to the consumer news on our news broadcasts that you have to be very careful about having someone work on your home.  Too bad Brian bowled lousy!  That is never any fun.   Thanks for the compliments on my pictures.  I think I have read Robyn Carr's Blue Skies. I got a couple of her older books through paperbackbookswap or maybe at a library sale.  I'm looking forward to the Virgin River Christmas book later this year.  I'm going to read the second Brenda Novak book.

Cady,  what a busy time this is for you.  Maybe once you get it all down to a routine it will feel easier.  Be sure to let us know how Maggie does with the violin.  I tried that in grade school but Mom & Dad were not willing to listen to my attempts to learn to play!!  It was horrible!  The school furnished the instruments so that was never an issue.  Times have changed so much for music & art in the schools.  That is so sad as I think kids need to be exposed to those aspects just as much as reading, writing, math & science.  All 3 of my grand kids have had some artistic phases.  I tried exposing them to more of what I thought they might like.  This area abounds in art galleries.  If I had any money I would be buying photographs & paintings.  Since I'm not wealthy my own photographs fill a bit of the void.  I hope you get to have the picnic.  We won't be getting rain for probably a month or more.

Over the weekend I read Legacy by Danielle Steel.  It was very good.  I don't read her much anymore but every once in awhile I see a book of hers that is either free to me or might cost $1.  Hard to pass up a bargain like that.  Her books are usually a very easy read which I need at times!  Legacy is about a woman that has big changes happen very unexpectedly in her life.  That leads to more changes.  One thing that I found fascinating was her research, for her mother, on their family tree.  Her mother comes from a long line of French people.  She discovers a Sioux Indian woman on the family tree.  The book explores that story as well as following the course of the woman learning to live with changes she did not want.  It was well done, a read I enjoyed a lot.

Now I am reading a Tell Harlequin Desire.  The books just came on Saturday or maybe Friday!!  They are short little books so this shouldn't take me long.  I'll take something with more to it on Thursday when I drive to the city.  I just found out earlier that I am going to cat sit starting Saturday, the 15th.  It was actually booked a long time ago but then friends of the couple were looking for a break from dealing with a family illness.  They love it here which led them to offer taking care of the cat in exchange for a place to stay & a chance to get away for a bit.  I was on standby!  It seems the family member has taken a turn for the worse so they decided not to come now.  I have met them briefly when they visited from Chicago.

The Niner's won their game yesterday!  Yea!!!  I didn't hear anything about the Lions or the Steeler's probably because I wasn't paying attention.  I sort of watched the game.  It takes me awhile to get back into the season.

This should catch me up for now.  Here is a picture that I took so you could see the signs posted along our coastline.  I have mentioned before that the surf tends to be dangerous but people go in anyway.  Sadly it leads to tragedy several times a year.  Sorry to leave on that note but I thought it would explain why I have mentioned that in earlier posts.

I'm going to check out Katie Couric's new program this afternoon.  I think she will be an interesting talk show hostess.  It is nice to have something decent to watch during the day when the weather gets bad.  Until then I'm not sure how much I will watch.  Then again I tried to never miss Oprah until she went off onto her OWN network which I do not get!

Have a good Monday afternoon & evening.  Happy reading,
Donna M
