T.G.I.F. 9/14/2012...

Good Afternoon to Everyone,

Since I did not take notes I hope to remember enough to make comments!!   This picture of the sailboat was  taken at the end of the day that I ran away to the coast.  The white sails & boat are so pretty against the blue sky & the hills in the background.  Despite the sails being up it was motoring in.  There maybe some regulations regarding that.  In all the many, many times I have been to Bodega Bay I think this is the first time I have seen a sail boat on the water.  The sail boat is in the bay but has just come in from open water on the ocean.

DonnaH, what a wonderful Christmas surprise delivered early.  I'm sure you are going to enjoy it a lot.  Nice to know it was just your old TV & not something wrong with the cable service.  When my old TV dies I will go out to get a new one.  I kind of already know what I want.  Much will depend on how much I want to spend!  When do you leave to go see your Mom & celebrate her birthday?  Understandable that you don't want to take any germs to her.  Her health sounds very fragile.  It hasn't been to long since I read Moonshell Beach which I loved.  I have enjoyed that whole Shelter Bay series.  It makes me miss the Oregon coast even though the town in that series is fictional.

Sandi, you have gotten a lot of listening or reading done!  I'll have to check out the new books from Lisa Kleypis (sp?).  I think I read one or two or her books a long time ago.  Gone Girl is on request at our library (I think!).  After requesting several one day then having too many available at the same time I am requesting less at one time unless there is a long waiting list.  It is kind of fun because you never know when the books you requested will be available!  I did not realize that the new Susan Wiggs book is a hard back.  I hate it when they do that after the others have been paperback.  Beth Ciotta is a author I've heard about but I don't think I've ever read any of her books.  Might have to check that out, not that I need any more authors that I like.  That said it is nice to have the variety.

Mary, good to know Don is getting some help for his elbow.  Hope it is much better soon.  Enjoy the new heating/AC.  It will probably make a difference in your bills.  Glad to hear Lauren is enjoy school.  They usually do at her age.  Lucky you having fall weather.  We are still a bit warmer than I like.  There are teasers that fall is coming!  I saw some trees with leaves that had turned but they were under neath the main part of the tree.  Usually the ones on the outside that are exposed turn first.  Mother Nature does like to keep us guessing.  Sorry neither of your football teams did well.  You always want the best but especially opening of the season.  Better luck for this weekend.

The day in San Francisco yesterday was long & tiring.  Why sitting in a chair waiting tires you out is kind of strange.  We left here at 6:30 am but it took us 2 1/2 hours to drive roughly about 70 miles.  Once we were in the city we were following directions that my neighbor had from the medical center where she was going, they had us turn right at the first place we had to make a turn instead of left which took us up the street for over 2 miles to make the next turn.  Luckily we saw a man where I had to turn around because the street dead ended that told us we needed to go the opposite direction for a long way!!  Grrrrrrr!  Mostly all the driving etc., went okay.  I just hate all that traffic which you have to keep extra focused on.  The Golden Gate Bridge was really socked in by fog so we could not see the bay or much of anything else.  Leaving the city it had lifted but never went a way entirely.  Once we got to the parking garage close to the medical center everything went well until my neighbor was ready to go home.  She had to wait to talk to her doctor before we left.  They put us in a small, cold room with really hard chairs, it was miserable after awhile.  We probably waited for at least 2 hours as the doctor was already doing some other procedure.  I cannot even begin to tell you how happy we all were to finally be heading back to the car & out of the city.  The worst part of it was none of us ever got any lunch.  By the time I got home I was getting a little shaky which is a terrible feeling.  If we had known it was going to be so long one of us could have gone to get some snacks or something.  In the morning once she was settled in for her procedure I went for a walk, found a great little place for a latte along with a scrumptious cinnamon brioche.  I enjoyed every morsel & sip!  The doctor said she does not have to come to see him again unless she starts having problems again.  Yea, because I really don't want to have to do that again.  I would if she needed it & the next time would probably go somewhat smoother.  There is nothing you can do about the traffic except be patient & stay very alert.  It reinforces my knowledge that I could never live in a city.

I managed to finish one of the Tell Harlequin books!  I never really liked it but felt that I wanted to finish it so I could write a review.  Trudy & I have very different tastes in books as she said she liked it.  The H was an arrogant, controlling jerk that never gave the h a chance, the h ran hot then cold, lashed out instead of listening to what he had to say.  No wonder I don't read these books!  They are the ones that I think give romance books a bad rep but then that is just my opinion which doesn't mean a whole lot except what books I decide to buy.  I'm not going to bother to post a cover picture since my opinion of the book is very low.
Mary, I'm thinking about opting out also as they don't really want books reviewed that I enjoy.  I do like MIRA & HQN, still read the Blaze books selectively as I like some of the authors.  It is interesting how our tastes in reading material evolve & change.  Part of it, I think, is being retired which gives me more freedom to do what I want, when I want.  The title was A Tangled Affair by Fiona Brand, it is one of the Desire line.

Let me find one last picture to post for today.  I took some pictures yesterday of some of the unique houses & apartments that you see in San Francisco but I'm not terribly pleased with the few I took.  They are still on the camera.  The water in the foreground is Bodega Bay on the other side of the sea wall is the Pacific Ocean with the fog in the back ground.

Have a wonderful weekend.  What ever you are doing enjoy & find time to read.
Donna M
