Awards Night

It was awards night at our local school -- Grades K - 8.  Two of my granddaughters, grades 6 & 8, got awards, so of course Grandma & Grandpa had to go watch.  The Gr. 8 got 3 or 4 of them, and would have gotten more if she hadn't spent 8 weeks not being able to participate because of a concussion.  They both got Honors awards, which means that their averages were above 80 all year.

Cady, our kids have so many days off, it's a wonder any of them pass.  Every month there is an early dismissal day when they go home at noon.  Then, we have a long week-end every month (like Thanksgiving, etc), so of course they get that off, too.  Then there's the week to 10 days they get off at Christmas, and the week they get off in Feb. for Winter break, and another week off at Easter.  And that doesn't count what they call teacher inservice days, which happen once a month, and the days they have parent-teacher interviews. . .  Sheesh, I'm surprised they're in school at all.

Sandy, I think I will try again to see if my library will take Kindle.  Maybe I'll go onto the website and ask instead of going to the desk, as last time I was there they had a young fellow who hardly knew enough to check my books out.

I got my book order from eH yesterday, and the email notification that it had been mailed today.  That's never happened before -- usually my books come the day after I get the email, but no matter, it still takes 3 weeks from the time I order till I get them.  Our snail mail is well and truly named.

In this order was Julie Miller's Marine Next Door.  I've heard from so many that it was really good, I've put it right at the top of my TBR pile.
