Yesterday was the annual Boas and Tiaras Tea. Authors who were signing were Elizabeth Boyle, Pamela Palmer, Kerrilyn Sparks, Deborah Coonts, Diane Kelley, Lorraine Heath, and Vikki Pettersen. Emceeing the event was Candace Havens. Also in attendance was Nikki Duncan and Heather Long. Candace, Nikki, and Heather didn't sign.
It was a sell out, and I know we raised more than $200 for our charity. Final numbers aren't quite in yet as some of the committee might still have outstanding expenses that need to be reimbursed. I got my money back at the event.
Every time we do one of these events we get donations from authors to make raffle baskets. This time we had two authors who donated baskets that had kindles in them. One had some type of Kindle, but I don't know which one, and the other had a kindle fire. I bought $25 worth of tickets as the money raised from the raffles goes towards the charity we're supporting. I put my tickets into each of the kindle baskets, as well as two or three other baskets.
I don't know why, but for some reason I had the feeling I was going to win the basket that held the fire. I felt strongly about this a couple of times throughout the day. I got lucky and won! I got a fire for Christmas from the family, so I didn't really need it, but there weren't any prizes I really wanted to win, so I put it in there because I always do, in hopes of winning so I can perhaps get the family involved in reading.
All my friends are like what are you going to do with another Kindle? I am going to give it to Mike provided he wants it for Father's Day.
Hope you all had a great weekend!
Sandi
