Tuesday evening

Hi everyone!

Don's b-day dinner went well on Saturday. I made lasagna and realized I am going to have to start making a bigger pan since everyone loves it and the kids eat seconds now too! We had just enough!

I had mentioned I read my dad book for June. It was Cops and...Lovers? The dad was a widower with a young disabled daughter. The daughter played a large part in the story and the H was a great dad so it was a good dad book. Some of you had mentioned yours weren't that great.

The book covers discussion is a good one. What gets me is so often they have the wrong color of hair on either  or both the H and h. The artist can't even get that right?! And using the cover to sell the book with false stuff like Donna's book. Many authors have said they have very little if anything to say about their covers.

Sandi--congrats on winning the Kindle fire!

Cady--I hope you are feeling better. That brought back good memories when you mentioned Maggie's fly-up ceremony. I have been a GS advocate since I was one myself. My daughter stayed till her three years were up in Juniors. There was no Cadet troop for her to join but by then she was burned out. I made it to Cadets myself and was a Brownie leader for two years. Good for Maggie continuing. It is a great organization. Base ball game s make for a great family outing.

Donna and Amanda and Sandi--I laughed reading your names stories. In our family we have Karen and gd Lauren who both have the same middle names (Marie) and I often call Lauren Karen. Their names are similar but she also reminds me so much of Karen when she was little. Also, I mix up Jer and Jacob and often call them by the other's name. Remember the days when kids were named the same as parents? Then you got big Dave (my dad) and little Dave (my brother.) The stories could go on forever!

I read Born in Fire a couple of years ago and it didn't work for me. I didn't like the H/h together. So I probably won't read the other two books. It is one of the only Nora books I really didn't care for that much.

I am still reading Birds of a Feather (a Maisie Dobbs book.) It is good but I am having trouble concentrating on reading right now. I am almost finished.

I hope you are all having a good week.
Mary
