Trudy, so sorry to hear that your a/c woes are continuing. Your needing a $1000 down payment takes me back to when we first moved to Texas. Mike had not been feeling well for several weeks before my move down (he had come several months prior because his job started, and I stayed behind to sell the house). He went to a doctor and they decided he had pulled a stomach muscle, because he didn't have any real symptoms, blood count was high, but still normal, and no fever. So, he comes to Iowa to drive me and the dog back to Texas after the house sells, and neither of us is feeling the best.
We get to the apartment we had rented and he goes back to work. The week goes by with him saying he didn't feel well, and me asking does he want a doctor? He finally decides on Sunday night he wants a doctor, so we go off to the er...because where else will we find a doctor on a Sunday night? So they decide to admit him for observation, and I have a job interview the next day.
(there are tons of stories there, but I'm attempting the short version!)
Anyway, they decide to do exploratory surgery, because remember this is like 28 years ago and technology wasn't what it is today. He ended up having a ruptured appendix! He'd been walking around with it for 3 weeks! Well, after a week in the hospital it's time to release him. Again it's a Sunday. I was young, and this was our first experience with anything like this. The cashier told me it would be $1000 for him to come home. Since we had just sold our house I had some money, and I told her it was lucky I had $1000. She told me that checks didn't get deposited until Tuesday. I was like if I didn't have it today I wouldn't have it Tuesday! (I would have found a way because my mom had come down and I know she would have given it to me, or Mike's folks would have wired it, but still!)
Since then of course I've learned that we can make payment arrangements with the hospital, but what did I know then! Maybe mom knew, but she didn't go with me to the cashier office, so I didn't know!
Cady how did sleep away camp go? Was Luke glad to have Maggie come home? How was Father's Day?
Mike had to work, and I did nothing, but laundry! I did make dinner. Last week the family complained that I had not bought enough food for them. This week according to my bill I bought plenty! I ended up having to throw away the eggs. I didn't realize that they didn't get put away. I thought I had all the cold things put up, and when I tripped over a bag, I didn't realize was on the floor several hours later I found the ziplock bags, and the eggs! OOPS! No clue how I missed that, but I guess that's life!
Yesterday a friend and I went to see Rock of Ages. I didn't like it, and thought it was a bit too long. Then we went to a library book sale. The main branch of the Dallas Public Library has a monthly book sale where everything you can fit in a box is $6. We bought a bunch of stuff for school. 8 boxes full...well really only 7.5 boxes full...couldn't find enough for the last box. $50 dollars with tax, and I know my boss will be thrilled!
Since we didn't have much in the way of food Mike and I went to Wingstop for dinner. I had a gift card so it cost me $1!
I've been continuing my listening of Harry Potter. I'm currently on Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince. This is the 6th in the series. I was hoping to be done with all of them by the end of June, but I think Mid-July is more realistic. I've started Don't Say A Word by Beverly Barton which is the last book she ever wrote. I've also started The Inn at Rose Harbor by Debbie Macomber, which is her upcoming release from her new publisher. It's written in first person which is different I think for her, and I'm not really sure I like it.
Hope everyone had a great weekend, and if you celebrated Father's Day it was a true celebration for the dad!
Sandi
