First day of June -- double yikes!!

Thanks, everyone, for welcoming me back! {:-)

I still haven't caught up on reading all the posts, but I'll get there eventually.

I am totally confused by the conversation going on re: Latino, Hispanic, Native Americans, etc.  When you're filling out legal documents that require a nationality, what do you put?  I have to put German, because my father was German, also he was born in Germany (as was my husband).  I was born in Canada.  So how many generations do you have to be born in a country before you become that nationality?  Not that I'm ashamed of my nationality, but it seems rather weird to me that you can have generations of a family being born and living in a certain country and they still have to put down some other country as their nationality.  If they really want to get technical on that part, there wouldn't be any nationalities at all because we all originated from Adam and Eve.  Anyhow. . .  {:-)

Margie, tell your sister when she's BBQing ribs, to first cut them into serving size pieces, eg: 3 or 4 bones/piece.  Then to boil them in a large pot of water for several minutes (about 10) first before putting them on the BBQ.  This gets rid of most of the excess fat, plus partially cooking them.  That way when you put them on the BBQ they don't burn before they're done.  And they still have that yummy BBQ flavor.  Somehow, if you BBQ first, and finish cooking them in the oven, they're way too fatty, and the nice BBQ flavor disappears.

Sandi, the above directions are for you, too.  Hope you get up the courage to try them, because done this way they are absolutely delicious!!

Donna M, your chocolate might look funny if it melted and then re-hardened, but it should still taste just fine.  If it's soft and you refrigerate it, it might even turn kind of white-ish, at least ours does, but the taste is still there.  How is your rash?  I always kind of panic when I start getting rashes.  I've got too many allergies, and a rash usually symbolizes a bout with antihistamines until I can finally find one that works.

Cady, are you still having car problems?  Hopefully they'll get it fixed while it's still under warranty!

Mary, Hardy does all our BBQing -- that's a long story. . .  and we BBQ just about every day all summer.  We've even been known to BBQ on a nice warm day in January -- all it has to do is go above freezing and we'll give it a try.  Much colder than that and the BBQ doesn't warm up properly, so it doesn't cook right.

So can you download books from your library onto an Ipad?  And use it as an extension of your computer, too?  What about when you're out and about, how do you get a signal then?  I've got Wi fi on my computer, my grandkids fixed it up because they like playing their Xbox here.

I met Kaelee while we were in Calgary, and -- believe it or not, her husband went to school with my other sister's husband all through his growing up years!  Small world, or what!!

I bought me the CUTEST!!!! black metal ladybug to hang on the side of my house from a place called Bluegrass in Calgary.  It has 4 little round planters where the spots are, and I'm going to put red flowers in them.  Now I just have to decide where to hang it.  I have a spot picked out, but it's very sunny there, and the planters are small, so that might not be a good choice.

I realized just last night that I've been forgetting to write down the titles and authors of the books I've been reading.  So I got out my piles, which I luckily hadn't yet moved downstairs, and started going through them.  I found 15 that I hadn't written down, and that's not counting the library books I can't remember the titles of.  That brings me up to 70 so far for this year.  That's got to be reasonably close as I haven't been reading as much these last few weeks.

I really must go get the zipper sewn into my granddaughter's grad dress.  I thought I was going to do it last night, but I just ran out of steam.  If it's not done by the time Hardy gets back with the truck, I could be in big trouble {;-)
