Oh Brother! We barely get here, and they change it, too. Thankfully it doesn't seem too bad, though.
Welcome Margie! Wow, you have been busy! Glad you got the house, and that you like it. A picture would be nice. . . (here's me asking other people to post pictures when I don't know how myself)
I also just finished reading Rainshadow Road and really enjoyed it. At one point in time I had 12 books out from the library at one time. Had to renew a few of them once, and one of them the second time before I could get them all read, but I managed. Now I decided it's time to take a break from reading all those big 500-page books, and try to make a dent in my own TBR pile. I'm working on book #53, but I have a feeling I may have forgotten to write a couple of them down. Oh yes, I also finally finished Nora Roberts' Birthright. I really enjoyed it, but finally had to sit at the table to finish it as it was so heavy that my wrist just couldn't hold it up, and the way my glasses are set, it wasn't comfortable holding it on my lap. The lady at the library showed me where to look when I'm reserving books so I know if they're hard cover or not.
I'm reading Donna Alward's How A Cowboy Stole Her Heart. It's the RITA nomination. I read it last year when it came out, and now I'm reading it again. I also just got her next book in the mail, (darn, can't think what it's called just now) Anyhow, I'll read it as soon as I finish this one. I actually love this book. The h is recovering from breast cancer surgery/chemo/etc, and the H isn't taking it too well. How they interact is wonderful to read. Donna did an amazing job on this book. I read all her books I can lay my hands on. She writes also for Samhain publishing, and I have a hard time finding those books, as I don't do the Amazon thing. She was actually kind enough to send me a couple of them back awhile. She's the only "real live" author that I've ever met. She is so friendly and nice.
Donna, you are a really talented photographer! You can actually take a picture of a clump of grass and make it look good. Wow!
I had invited Little Annie to come here, too, but she said she didn't know any of us but me, so she declined at this time. I left the invite open, so you never know, she could get curious and come to check us out some time.
I woke up this morning with the plan in my head that it would be an "us" day. I was going to do our income tax (but I always insist that Hardy be very close by while I'm doing it). Then I had another form to fill out regarding our pension incomes, I have a mountain of clean clothes to fold and put away, so I was going to clean our closet out at the same time, and whatever was left of the day was going to be used sitting on the couch reading. Ha! At 7 a.m. Hardy comes into the bedroom, bumps up against the bottom of the bed, and said, "Aren't you supposed to have a cake at the church by 10 o'clock this morning?" (editing this in: we do sleep in the same bed, he just gets up before I do. {;-) ) Oh crap! I had to serve lunch at a funeral that was being held at our church today. It was for a 96 yr old fellow who was a member of our church, but hasn't come for many years because he's been in the nursing home. He was actually a neighbor of ours when we lived on the farm, and a better neighbor you couldn't ask for. Helful, friendly, kind, generous. . . they don't make them like that any more.
So much for my "us" plans for the day. I got nothing done that I had planned. We no sooner got home from the funeral than our youngest daughter came along, wanting Dad to go to town with her (she hates driving, so always asks if one of us wants to go along). Hardy went with here, I sat on the couch and read. When they got back, she BBQ'd ribs and invited us over for supper. Yum, were they good! I ate way, way too much!!! Well of course by the time we got home it was way too late to do much of anything. I've got my third -- and last -- load of clothes in the washer now, and then I'm heading for bed.
Our oldest son and our youngest sil have gone up north quadding for the week-end. Do any of you guys do that? Get a group of people together who own quads -- off-road vehicles that have 4 big heavy-treaded wheels -- and ride them around in farmers' fields, mud holes, sloughs, through bush, and any other crazy place you can think of, until you all come home, soaked to the skin, filthy dirty, and worn to a frazzle? Two weeks ago our youngest son was with a group, and one of the quads fell through some ice, and ended up laying on it's side in 6 feet of water. The guy driving it had his 2 yr old son with him. Luckily everyone got out okay, but his quad is now spread all over his garage floor. . . he has to get the motor re-built because of the water it sucked in before it shut down.
Well, enough yammering for tonight. More later.
