Hello Friends,
Mary & Margie, thanks for the birthday wishes. This morning when I turned on the computer I had a bunch of birthday wishes from people on Facebook. That was fun & unexpected. A little while ago I got back from having a late breakfast with my friend Pat that lives up north. She is the one I visit to break up my trips to Oregon. She was with her nephew as they have been in Oakland over the weekend visiting family. They had lunch but I had breakfast as it was much to early for me to have lunch! I asked her if she knew when the last time was we were together for either of our birthday's. Neither of us remember!! Her birthday is not until December so now I am the older one for a few months. She does not let me forget!!!
The picture above is a formation in Zion National Park. It has a name but I don't remember what it is. I took a bunch of pictures of it from different angles. It sort of looks like an alter. I'm too lazy at the moment to go look it up!!
Over the weekend I finished reading Forever and a Day by Jill Shalvis, it was very good. I love her books, especially her humor. This is one of the Lucky Harbor series. At the beginning of each chapter there is a quote about chocolate. All of them are good. Here is one of my favorites: "There are four basic food groups: plain chocolate, milk chocolate, dark chocolate and white chocolate." That works for me but my favorite is milk chocolate.
Mary, congratulations on 39 years of marriage. That is wonderful. I always look at the anniversary announcements in the paper. Once in awhile I even know someone. It amazes me when people have been married 60, 65 years or longer. They must have been 10 when they married!!! LOL! I so admire a couple when I see that commitment. I hope your library has a copy of Until Tuesday, our library does. That is how I got the book. Let us know what movie you see. I would like to see Hope Springs with Meryl Streep as I like her. The ads for the movie look good.
This should catch me up for now. My grandson emailed me that his dad is improving from the surgery, still has numbness & pain but is getting better. He has a doctor appointment tomorrow which will give him an update on progress.
Margie, I was envious of the coolness at Candlestick for the game! I'm happy they won but didn't really watch much of the game. Pre-season is mostly to test out the rookies & get everyone in shape for the season but I usually watch some as it gives you a peek at how they play when it counts. It is also a chance to learn something about the new players.
Does anyone else in our little group watch Dancing With The Stars? I love the program, it is one of my favorites. This season is going to be very interesting with the "All Star" cast. This morning I was able to find out the pros & who is dancing with who!! Since several of the stars are favorites it will be hard to decide who to vote for & cheer for. It should keep it interesting. I cannot believe that Pamela Anderson & Bristol Palin are in the cast!! Really? Of course that is just my humble opinion. I am more than ready for the new fall season to start on TV.
Everyone have a good day.
Donna M
