Hi guys!
Happy birthday Sandi!
I have been reading posts but not posting so I will try to get caught up tonight. For those of you who commented about Lauren starting kindergarten she is starting early. In PA you have to be 5 by Sept. 1st to enter K. in public school. She won't be 5 until Oct. 14. However, she attends the Goddard School and they have a private K that is accredited so she will be able to go into first grade next Sept. She was also evaluated by her PreK teachers and they felt she was ready. So, she is extremely excited but has not chosen an outfit yet. (They don't wear uniforms.) It is hard to believe she is old enough but they tend to grow up no matter what the rest of us want.
Donna M--the pictures of your gks were really cute. Willamsport where the Little League is held is in central PA. I attended college not far from there and have several friends from the area. I have never been to any of the games. Tickets are at a premium. I have seen the field and it is a great park for playing baseball. Sorry about the dog you dog sat. Sounds like it had a good long life but it is always hard to lose a beloved pet.
Margie--I have to agree that some of the authors who used to write historicals and switched to r/s or thrillers are not writing books as well as they did before. I think Andrea Kane is one of them. Although I like her new series, I liked her historicals much better. What Angels Fear is the first book in the series by CS Harris that Cady and I are reading.
Donna H--thanks for the anniversary wishes. I am glad your dd is feeling better. The weiner roast sounds like it was a success.
Sandi--sounds like you got some nice gifts. Hope you are enjoying your birthday. You are an inspiration on the kitchen organizing!
Amanda--the Phils just keep on making us watch don't they! Yes, pro football games are prohibitively expensive to attend. The Phillies games are still within reach but the cost of parking adds on.
Cady--go right ahead and nag. Some things just don't make sense but schools, etc. just keep doing them the same way. You might be interested in reading the Gaslight series that I started recently written by Victoria Thompson. It is set in 1890's New York City. The heroine is a widow who supports herself as a midwife. The male lead is a police detective. They are not romantically involved yet but at some point I think they will be. The first book is Murder on Astor Place. I am reading the second book now.
We still have not gotten out to the movies yet. Perhaps this week. We spent the day with Karen and family last Friday. We visited a nearby nature center and just had a great day with them. I finished reading Animal Dreams by Barbara Kingsolver and enjoyed it. I will have to tell you about it some other time. I also read Borrower of the Night by Elizabeth Peters. This is the first book in her Vicky Bliss series and was ok. I understand the rest of the books are better. I am currently reading Murder on St. Mark's Place by Victoria Thompson. It is good so far.
I hope everyone is having a good week.
Mary
