FRIDAY!!!!

Donna, how old were the granddaughters who were playing with the pens? I enjoy watching some older TV shows on NETFLIX. The only problem is I have to keep hitting select, which I hate! I wish it would just play the season I'm watching like a DVD would. I hope it's nothing to serious with your daughter and her shoulders. I have been having some ankle pain, but I think it's the way I sit. I need to remember that I'm almost 52, and not 22 anymore, and quit sitting crosslegged, or with my feet tucked under me!

Donna, when next week is your birthday? My brother recently had a birthday(July) and he turned 65! It's really hard to think about my brother and sister being in their 60's...I tend to think of that as being my parent's age..not my siblings! Brian's birthday is Sunday, and he's going to be 20. Not my baby anymore! How sad for your friend that her father passed away, but how fortunate she was to have him for so long! My SIL's parents just had their 70 anniversary! I can't even begin to imagine.

Trudy, I just can't imagine what I would have done if the lawyer I saw insisted on the full amount before he would do anything for me! It would have been truly truly awful. I'm sending good thoughts your way, and hope things can be resovled soon! You're right we're trying to get a bunch of things done to the house, because after about 28 years it needs to be done, and we're never going to move, and it's way past time! I cringe every time I write another check, but then I walk past something that's clean and new and pretty and I'm prety pleased. I'm hugely pleased with the floor in the one bathroom as it was bad bad bad! I'm also ridiculously happy with the new towel bar in our bathroom, as the one we had was broken for years, and we just never got around to replacing it! I think today it's going to be nice to get home and see new faucets on our bathroom sink. Again, ours has been cracked forever, but because it doesn't leak and is a pain to replace we never did it, but now with the new paint, floor, other accessories it's time! I also think that some of the renovations are finally happening because Mike has finally realized that they need to be done, and he hasn't got the time or perhaps the knowledge to do some of it, and has finally resigned himself to the fact that they need doing, and so we have to pay. I know that he sees as something gets done something else needs doing, and I think as long as we still have some money left from my mom he's of the mindset that we should do it, and then we can start saving again knowing the house is done!

Margie glad the birthday dinner worked out! I have an elderly aunt that they can't really take out because of how difficult it is to get her in and out of the car. When they do take her out they have to call a special service, and I know it's not cheap!

Margie, what a sad, but fun story about the lawyer friend! To think the little boy thought he was meeting a Super Hero!

Well, Ellen is in China for a month. I'm still on the fence as to whether or not that is going to be good for me. I need a break from her, but I'm not sure I want to be working with John that closely for the next month!

Yesterday, I got home and attempted to start putting my kitchen back together. I didn't want to do too much because I think we're going to be buying an extra storage unit from Big Lots. http://www.biglots.com/browseItem/carts-and-pantries/8228
Mike has a 20% off coupon, and instead of expanding the kitchen (if we get a contractor who will work with our budget...most of them are saying they only do bigger jobs!) we could buy this cart and get a bit of storage. I'm not sure how big it is, so was being careful loading a free standing pantry in case we needed to move it again. I did however, get the main part of the kitchen scrubbed, well the counter tops anyway. The cabinets need it too, but that's another day!

Brian did a load of laundry for me, but didn't dry it. When I got home to put it in the dryer we had issues. They didn't put the dryer back together correctly, and it was making funky noises, and smelly! Through a lot of aggravation, because it's a really tight space Brian finally got it fixed correctly, and we were able to get some laundry done! I think altogether I did 3-4 loads, and still have at least 2 to do! It's amazing how it piles up, because I had been attempting to do a load or two a day, so I don't have those marathon wash sessions!

Both bathrooms need a good scrubbing from the renovation, but I figure the plumber will make a mess today, so I will just clean those over the weekend.

Finished 08/10/12

Yesterday I thought I was really close to finishing the audio of Rescue Me by Rachel Gibson. I was right. If I had realized how close I would have plugged it in at the house and finished! I really enjoyed it. I haven't been reading much, been tired, and trying to work on some dejunking that the renovation has brought forth! Last night I shredded paperwork that Mike had about his hours worked (time card like things) that dated back to the mid 80's! They stopped sometime in the 90's, and probably didn't really need shredding, but better safe than sorry! I also wish I knew which papers regarding the house I needed and which I didn't. I found three sets of closing papers for the house..the original from when we bought it, and the two times that we refinanced! Now I need to figure out where I'm going to store those as they're legal sized, and don't fit in the file cabinet. I think the file cabinet is also going to need to be dejunked again! Amazing how everyone says we're going paperless, and yet I still have so much!

Did I tell you that my friend Pat brought me back a surprise from RWA? She brought me back a light weight windbreaker from Robyn Carr, that has the Virgin River logo on it. A copy of The Wedding Party by Carr that has been reissued, with a pretty new cover, and an ARC of the upcoming Christmas Story. I have started the new Christmas story, but not gotten very far, as I took it with me somewhere, and forgot it in my car for a couple of days. Then yesterday when I wanted to read I couldn't find it! SIGH!!!!

Hope everyone has a great weekend. Who's got plans? Tomorrow the book club is having tea.

Sandi
