Hello to Everyone,
Our weather is a little strange today. Some of what I can see is due to the smoke from two wild fires in Lake county to the east of where I live. It makes the sky look funny. Last night I could actually see the smoke. As the wind shifts it changes what I see. The firefighters are working under terrible conditions, very hot. Today will be around 105 where the fire is. Can you imagine wearing all that gear, hot, hot weather, heat from the fire. They are to be admired. Have no idea how they can work under those conditions. At this point they have the fire 30% contained and a long way to go.
The picture above is another taken of the formation I posted yesterday. Every time I see all these pictures I want to go again! I just hope I'm not repeating myself!!! Posting pictures that is!!!
My birthday was mostly quiet but a nice day. By the time you are my age life doesn't seem to throw us a lot of excitement. No complaints here. The grand kids in Oregon emailed me birthday wishes. You already know I had breakfast with my friend. I was to lazy to cook so I got a turkey burger to go from my favorite little burger joint. It was so good! Tonight I will eat leftovers!! Yesterday, I did a lot of reading. I almost finished Beautiful Sacrifice by Elizabeth Lowell. I did finish it this morning. Quite the story. It is based loosely based on the Mayan belief of the end of the world in December of 2012, also ancient Mayan artifacts, grave looters, a lot of suspense. Some of it is not for the faint of heart! Well written. I don't think I enjoy reading her as much now as I did a few years ago. Glad I got this one from the library. Despite what I am saying it was hard to put down. Now I need something a bit lighter, much lighter!!
Tomorrow I have a bunch of books to return to the library then on to Santa Rosa for errands, maybe a car wash! I dislike the type of trees they planted around here because my car doesn't stay clean more than a day or two & the stuff from the trees is sticky & nasty too much of the year. The trees were here long before I was!! Sometimes I wonder what landscapers are thinking when they choose a certain type of tree.
Nothing new or exciting for me! Dishes are calling, need to be done. Where are the good fairies when you need them? :-)
When I talked to my daughter yesterday she was packing for her big adventure to climb Mt. Shasta, which is over 14,000 ft. high. She & her friend are going with a guide. That relieved this Mom's mind a lot. Next to Colorado California has the most highest peaks in the USA. Just a bit of trivia there!! You never know when it might help you answer a Jeopardy question!! One of my favorite shows because I'm always amazed at what I get right!!
Have a great day. Enjoy whatever you are doing or reading.
