Tuesday. 8/7/2012...

Good afternoon to all of you,

Well!  I finally got through with AT&T to find out what was going on with not being able to call my daughter's cell phone.  Apparently it is because I need local toll access, which is long distance.  It is really crazy.  The gentleman I talked to said potentially any cell phone is a long distance call.  I hate the way some of this is set up.  I dropped my long distance calling because I use my cell to make long distance calls.  By the way this problem is with the daughter that lives 14 or 15 miles away.  When I call her son, my oldest grandson, on his cell (different # than hers) it goes right through.  So, I can either call her on my cell or add long distance on my phone for $5 a month plus a 7 cents per minute charge!!!  Grrrrrrrrrr!!  :-(  I'm not happy about this.  At this point I will just call her on my cell.  Sometimes I hate technology.    Okay, that is out of my system for now.

The picture is a close up of colors on rock.  When you take a lot of pictures you learn to really look at everything.  I think it is one of the many things I like about photography.  DonnaH, thanks for that wonderful comment about my pictures.  Trust me, I'm not even close to a real professional photographer but I do have a lot of fun with it.  Also my camera is just a point & shoot which is not comparable with the equipment a professional would use.  Thank you all for being a willing audience.

Cady, your kids are growing up so fast.  Thanks for sharing the pictures.  They are cuties.  I did think about you when I heard about that shooting.  That would be difficult to explain to young children.  They are finding out now, according to news, that he was a white supremacist.  That is scary to me.  I didn't realize you were so close.  Thank heavens for good books that can give us a break from reality.  Glad you found some time to read.  How funny that Luke wanted to stay to see what the girls were doing.  Guess he thought he might miss out on something.  I remember that from little brothers!  They can be a pain at times.

Donna H, always good to see you here.  I hope the BBQ was good.  We have birthdays in my family in bunches also.  My youngest brother & I are this month also my granddaughter, as was my grandmother & an uncle.  My youngest daughter & youngest grandson are both in February.  There use to be more at times but some of those people have passed away.  Glad to hear that your tree is doing okay so far.  It is amazing what they can withstand.   I saw that same race while watching the Olympics when the man ran with the two prosthetic legs.  That is just amazing.  I felt bad that he came in last but liked the guy that hugged him & asked for his name tag.  I turned them off last night after the women's gymnastics.  I wanted to watch the men but just was not up to staying up any later.  Too many late night for the Olympics plus my eyes were bothering me.  I'm due for an eye check up soon.  I probably need new glasses.  It is never to much of a surprise when my doctor says it is time for a change.

Sandi, I'm so sorry to hear about your problems with walls, etc.  Glad you were able to get a plumber right away.  Those mornings when you oversleep are no fun.  I didn't do well without my morning shower when I had to go to work.  To bad that the people on Angie's list only want high end jobs.  Someone has to be willing to do the smaller necessary things.  I, too, would be very frustrated.  Hope it is all good soon.

Another book I requested came in to the library!  One of these days I will get back to my own TBR books! Actually I'm not really complaining.  It is just kind of funny how it is spacing out.  Guess I should be careful about requesting so many at one time!

Oh, my son in law is doing okay.  He was having some pain today, not too surprising.  That is all I know, no other details.  My grandson emailed me because he was all excited about getting his braces off at his next appointment.  He has been watching the Olympics also.  He thought the speed walkers were kind of funny!  I did not see any of that.

Here is a picture to close this out.  This is another of the seals we saw. There is just the one in this picture.  The other picture I posted just has the white one in it I think!  To be sure I have to look in a larger format.  They were hardly moving so we didn't see them at first.  They seemed to be very content where they were.  Wish my zoom had more power!

Until we meet again, happy reading,
Donna M
