:-( 8/25/2012...

Good Afternoon Friends,

The sad face above is because the Petaluma Little League lost the championship today.  What a game!  It went into overtime & those two teams played 3 hr. & 15 min. each playing their heart out.  The California team has nothing to be ashamed of in losing.  In the bottom of the 6th they came back from a deficit of 10.  It was really something to watch.  It was as exciting as any pro sport I've ever watched including the 49'ers winning any Super Bowl or even the Miracle on Ice when the USA team won the Olympic hockey game!!  These are all kids that are 12 & 13.  Not sure if any 11 yr. old can play on that team.  Little League is very strict on their rules.  Wow!  It has been a ride.

Doesn't this picture looks like fall is coming?  I love this color, yes I do believe it is poison oak.  It does tend to turn color early.  It doesn't seem fair that something that makes many people miserable should look so pretty.  My ex, both my daughters & I think all three of the grand kids get poison oak.  I don't!!  My mom did also.

We had another very cool, foggy morning but the sun was out before  the clock said noon.  I just love these days!  One of the vendors that I buy from regularly at Farmer's Market said that when she was out picking early this morning it was too cold!  They are out close to the river so I imagine it is cooler there than where I am.

After Farmer's Market I did a short walk to the post office & then also to Safeway.  The new walking shoes are feeling good.  Safeway is very close to where the Farmer's Market is held so I just park the car for Farmer's Market then go to Safeway if I need to.  Today I only got corn, tomatoes & a melon, oh, also a chocolate chip cookie!

Mary, guess it is a good thing I didn't guess how many books you would bring home!  I would have guessed more than 2.  I did have your birthday down!  Somehow I missed seeing it.  You have been sewing a long time.  When I took home ec. in Junior High I loved the cooking part but not the sewing.  I think one reason was the projects we had to do in sewing.  After I moved to California, had my second daughter that is when I got into sewing through a good friend.  She pretty much me taught me most everything.  After getting started we took some classes together for sewing on knits.  I loved it at the time.  After my divorce I simply did not have the time & the girls got old enough they did not like "home made" clothes.  Teens!!!

Donna H, I would have to go along with you for your moms 90th birthday.  Party while you can!!  Especially if you think she won't be around much longer which makes having the family get together even more important.  Maybe your daughter won't go to the specialist until all the test results are in.  I hope you like the rest of the Bullet Catcher books.  She started a new series this year which is a totally different type of book! I've read the first book, the only one out so far.  It was good.

Trudy, when I watch the news I pay attention to what they are saying about Issac.  I'm sorry to say it doesn't look promising for Florida.  On one newscast I saw someone from the RNC that said they do have contingency plans but did not say what they were.  One of the author blogs I was reading said she doesn't much care for the Republican party right now but they do have the right to hold their convention.  It seemed to me that Florida was a poor choice at this time of year.  That author happens to live in Florida but I'm not sure where.  Are you taking your computer back again so they can fix it right?  Sounds similar to my sister in law & her laptop.

Since there isn't a lot of TV that I want to watch most nights I've been watching more DVD's.  I watched The Great American Songbook over a 2 night period.  It was almost 3 hours long & there was a program on 1 of those nights I wanted to watch so I broke it up into 2 nights.  It was fun hearing the music beginning with composers in the late 1800's, the Broadway era in the early 1900's & on into the 40's & 50's.  Lots of good music.  Some great old movie clips.  If you like that sort of thing you would probably enjoy it.

Here is a picture to say good bye for now!  This is the same type of plant as the first one but taken with a "magic filter" that is on my camera.  I had never used it before, had no idea what it did!  I'm trying to learn more about the features on the camera as there are lots of them.  Love the hot pink color!!!

Enjoy the rest of the weekend.  Happy reading,
Donna M

P.S. Again!!  Thank heavens it went into draft.  Not sure just what I accidentally hit that it did that.
I'm happy again!!!
