Wow! I read and read and read before I finally got to the place where I had previously posted. You've all been very busy here these last few days. {:-) But that's a good thing.
I didn't take any notes, so while I might be able to remember what I read, I likely won't be able to remember who wrote it.
I did remember, though, that Cady gave me the recipe for Caprese Salad, because I wrote it down. Thanks, Cady.
As usual, Donna M's pictures are worthy of a professional! I couldn't find the other 2 seals, though.
I finished Face of Danger (the right one this time) and enjoyed it. I actually liked all three of the Guardian Angelinos books. I wish she'd write some more about the rest of the family. I'd love to read Gabe's book. . . I liked these books enough that I went to the library and reserved a whole series of hers -- the Bullet Catchers series. Some of them have some pretty scary titles. I'll see how I like them when they start coming in to my library. I sure hope they don't all come at once, though I can renew them if I have to.
At our library, if you need to reserve a book that others have on hold, you are allowed one 2-week renew if there's not too long a list of holds. Otherwise, you are allowed two 3-week renews for a book with no holds on it.
Our tree shows no signs of dying yet. I'm so glad! I told Hardy that that one tree was half the worth of our property. (of course it isn't, really, but that's how much I love that tree)
Sandi, having your hand and wrist swell up like that must have been very scary! I agree with the others -- if it happens again, go to the dr. right away!
I've started reading a book by Jessica Andersen called Bear Claw Lawman, which is #9 in the Bear Claw Creek Crime Lab series. I went to eH to see if I could find some of the others, and there's not a single one available, and it's a Harl. Intrigue. That was a disappointment! Is there an Amazon.ca that I could go to see if I could find some more? I vaguely recall someone telling me that Amazon had a Canadian website so the books wouldn't have to come across the border.
I don't care what the covers look like. If they're re-releasing the Virgin River books, I'll be there with bells on! I've got 6 or 8 of them -- all the newer ones -- and I'd love to get the first ones so I had the whole series. Kim from eH picked up 3 for me at a library sale, and said she put them in the mail a couple of weeks ago, but I haven't gotten them yet.
I've been watching the Olympics off and on. I hate watching Soccer, and Beach Volleyball. Our CTV channel has had pretty good coverage. I've got 3 channels I can get stuff from so I can usually find something interesting to watch. Did any of you see the men's 400m dash where that guy with two artificial feet ran? Oh man, was that ever interesting. He lost, came in last, but the guy that won -- somebody James -- went to him and asked for his name tag (those great big ones they pin right across their fronts), and gave him a great big hug. I thought that was so cool!
I know there were a couple of other things I was going to mention, but they've slipped my mind just now. We're going out for BBQ supper now, anyhow. It was our sons' birthdays yesterday. Oldest son turned 45, youngest turned 36. So we're partying today. We partied on July 27, too, as our youngest daughter turned 37 on July 26th. Our oldest daughter turned 44 on July 31, but they live in Regina, and her husband won't allow her to have anything to do with us. The dummy fried his brains on drugs when he was younger. Had we known we'd have tried to talk her out of marrying him. . . We know someone who lives in the same building as them, so we get regular reports, and he's trying to recover from a rather severe stroke, so maybe he won't live too much longer. Sorry, I didn't mean that to sound as if I wish he would die.
