Donna, did your son-in-law have the surgery? One of my employee's husband's was supposed to have surgery, but something was messed up with his insurance and he didn't have it. I remember when Brian was a baby and his doctor's office was on our insurance, but the doctor he saw wasn't! It's because he was new to the office, and the paperwork hadn't been completed, so they just billed under another doctor's name. Then they said they were cancelling taking our insurance at the office, but it turned out that under the big umbrella there are smaller policies, and our particular one wasn't being affected. I would have thought they'd be stupid not to take ours as it's through Texas Inst. and that is one of the larger employers in the area, so they would potentially lose a lot of clients!
Trudy, sorry to hear that your still owing the lawyer, and he won't do a thing for you until paid. Our lawyer is so great...he asked for something down and then asked how much we could afford a month until it was paid. At the time because I had money from mom I could have just paid him, but we didn't want to. So every month I paid him a payment until I was down to the end of getting money from mom, and told Mike with the last payment from the estate I was just going to pay him off, so I didn't have to worry about it anymore. My sister and I were leaving mom's money in the bank until we sold the condo, so that neither of us had to pay the montly fees we needed to keep the condo running, but if one of us needed something we withdrew enough to cover it, and gave the other person the same amount...then when the condo sold we got those fees reimbursed from the sale, and could close the account for good! Now, I'm hoping to use the last of that money to fix the kitchen, but am having issues finding a contractor willing to do close to my dream for the amount I would like to spend.
Margie, glad to hear that Disney went so well. I hear you about the pictures..you get so caught up in the fun and excitement that picture taking slides!
Cady, sorry to hear the kids took ill, but glad they're feeling better in time for the party. Did they have fun? What did Luke do while all those girls were running around the house being girls? Did they "sleep" in the basement? How was the movie? Hope you enjoy the fair. Ours is in the fall. The kids even get a day off school to attend, and a free ticket. I guess only in Texas!
Donna, you have some very handsome grandsons! Glad you got some good reading done while cat sitting. I didn't do much reading at all this weekend. In fact I did a bit more dejunking of books, and took them to the UBS to sell. Other than that I can't say as I was very productive at all this weekend! Oh! I read the first book in the Jaci Burton series and enjoyed it, but haven't moved on yet. Someday! Love the ocean pictures! I think I can almost see one other seal, but for sure not 2!
My brother that lives in Santa Cruz is having a showing of his art/photography. There was a really nice write up about him in the Santa Cruz Sentinel.
Amanda, I thought Mike was pretty crazy suggesting I take Aspirin for the swelling, as I didn't think it worked on that. When I needed to take something again later I took an Advil. I recently bought a new hamper and it's got sections. I use one for darks, one for lights, and one for towels. It's really been amazing at how well we've all adjusted to putting the clothes in the correct place, and how I've gotten to doing a load of clothes as the section fills. I'm sure I could "squish" the clothes down, but I find as we put them in without the "squish" that if it fills it's truly about a load, so I do them, and then I'm not having marathon wash and fold days! Did the clothes dry fast even though it was humid? I've never hung clothes out to dry, but a friend of mine did it for a long time as her dryer broke, and she refused to buy a new one until her washer also went! She's a better person than I am!
My hand hasn't swollen again. Thanks for all the concerns. Believe me should it happen again I will be off to the doctor. About the only reason I didn't go then was because it was a Saturday, and by the time the Dr's office would have opened it was already coming down. By Sunday it was normal.
Today they are laying the ceramic tile in the kitchen, bathrooms, laundry room. I am really excited about it. The one bathroom still has the original floor from when we built the house! The other bathroom has a newer floor laid over the original because we had to go through the slab there to fix a plumbing issue, and it's been more years ago than I can remember! We did those peel and stick tiles at that time. The kitchen and the laundry room have the newest linoleum at about 15 years of age! When we finish the only room left not yet fixed up at all will be Brian's. It's got the only carpet left in the house, and it's the original from the house being built. It's got paint that's about 24 years old! It's time, but convincing Brian is hard, but he knows I've put a time limit on flooring/painting/blinds being done, and that's October when I host book club. So he's running out of time!
Now I'm listening to Rescue Me by Rachel Gibson. I think I should get it finished by next weekend.
Hope that everyone has a great day!
Sandi
