Happy May 1...

Good Morning Everyone,

Donna H, this picture is for you, actually for everyone!!  Donna, you mentioned you love mountains that is why I said it is for you.  This is really a mountain, Mt. Shasta in northern California.  My Dad was born in a little town near here.  He grew up going to school in the town of Mt. Shasta which is at the base, or near, the mountain.  He also skied on the mountain.  This was taken in July 2010 when my son in law's mother & I drove up there to pick up our grandkids.  We usually meet our kids somewhere that is about half way & the kids come back with us for their summer visit.  We get to see our son/daughter,  have lunch then we go our separate directions!!  I hope that made sense.  :-)  It is a lot of sitting in the car but I always say it is only one day!  Just FYI:  Mt. Shasta, the mountain, is 14,179 ft. high, the second highest peak in the Cascade Mountains & the 5th highest in the state of California.  It is easily visible for quite a distance when you travel on I-5.

Cady, you mentioned that your two are going to be playing baseball & that it might be your summer.  Are they on different teams?  That can end up being a challenge.  My grandkids in Oregon have been active in several sports.  When I was visiting one time they both had something going on the same evening so Mom & Dad went to one & myself & some other friends visiting went to the other.  That way they both had someone attending the activity.  I was at the softball game for my granddaughter.  The team she was on did not have experienced players & watching them was quite funny!  One girl in the outfield was not paying attention to the game, missed a ball that she should have at least attempted to catch.  It wasn't suppose to be funny but the entertainment ended up not being the game but watching the players for what they were not doing!!  The couple I was with & myself had a problem at times to not laugh!!  Fun memories.

The year is flying by!  I can't believe that it is May already.

Last night I finished reading When Dreams Come True by Cathy Maxwell.  This is an historical which I don't tend to read much but it was good.  The book was published in 1998 & is now being reissued.  When I saw something about it I decided to read it.  I was able to get a copy through paperbackbookswap.  Now I have started reading an Emilie Richards book that will fit right in with our "mom" theme for May if that is what we are doing.  In April I read 2 RWA books but don't remember at the moment which of the books qualified for that.  I'll have to recheck the list.  For the month of April I read 12 books.  All in all I would call it a good month!

Sandi hasn't posted for awhile.  Maybe if Richard & his son (the name escapes me at the moment) moved in she just hasn't had a chance to post.  That could be a challenge having an adult child move back in with a child.  When my oldest grandson was born they moved in with me when he came home from the hospital.  My daughter at that time had a lot of growing up/maturing to do so it was a real challenge.  I loved having him there & missed him so much when they moved out after living with me for 5 months.  He is now 23!!!  Time flies!!

I've had my walk already.  I should have gotten up a little earlier to go but it worked out okay.  Yesterday I got very over heated & did not want to repeat the experience!  I think my doctor would not have been to happy with me.  I wasn't happy with me.

Good bye for now.  One more picture.  This is one taken on an beautiful not quite spring day.  The trees as you can see are blossoming but we had a storm that left a bit of snow on the higher hills.  Snow in this area is pretty much a rarity so I had to get some pictures.  That is looking toward Mt. St. Helena which I posted a picture of before.  You can't see the top because of the clouds.  Everyone have a good day.  Hope you get to read.

Donna M
