Wednesday Morning. . .

Donna M, those pictures of Yosemite are great!  I love the mountains peeking through the big tall trees.  Are you going to be able to get here when you're house sitting?  That's an awful long time to be gone.

I have a friend who has celiac disease.  She's not worried about cross-contamination as she prepares all kinds of stuff for her kids, even bakes things with flour in, etc.  But I know another person (more an acquaintance, rather than a friend) and she is very, very careful about cross-contamination.  I suppose there can be varying degrees of it.  My dbil was having terrible stomach problems, and it took months, but finally his dr told him he had celiac disease.  He cut all the gluten foods out of his diet and is fine, but he's not real careful about it, and still eats things with gluten in once in a while.  I go probably about 90% gluten-free.  I don't consider it a problem, but I do have to admit that I feel better when I eat more raw foods -- veggies, etc -- rather than a lot of breads and desserts.

Cool on all the book orders, and free books!  I got 2 books from Tell H just yesterday, but so far no survey to tell me how fast I have to read them.  Guess I'll take them to Calgary with me next week.  Yikes!  By this time next week I'll be on the road. . .  {:-)  I can hardly wait!

Okay, everyone, here's the lemon meringue pie, a piece for everyone. . .  {:-)  And they had some pumpkin cheesecake that everyone was raving about, so I grabbed some of that too. . .  {;-)

Trudy, Yikes!  I did not realize freon was so expensive!  But at least you've got a/c, even if it does need more work.  And if they're willing to work with you on payments, that's even better.  {{{{HUGS}}}}  You should try taking a page from my husband's book -- when one of his siblings says something stupid, he just mocks them, and he keeps at it until they -- and everyone around -- realize how dumb they were.  Or he'll just come right out and ask them "are you listening to yourself?  Do you know how stupid what you just said was?"  I don't have any great urge to go to France, but I'd love to go to Scotland, or New Zealand, or Australia. . .  {:-)

Free food?  I'd fill my trunk, too. . . {:-)

We get free park passes here, too, but always have to go get a new one each spring.

Wow! "Stamping Out Hunger" what a cool way to do it!  Our post office is rural -- we don't have home to home mail service, so it kind of wouldn't work here.  They'd have to think of some other way.  We have stores that collect for our food drives.  They have prepackaged bags of various amounts that you can pay for and put in the barrels for the food banks to pick up.  Some of our cafes will save left over buns, or pats of butter, etc, for a place in town called The Soup Haven that feeds several hundred people daily.

Margie, Yikes!  At least you know it's a phone line and not hooked to something electrical. . .

I guess it's a sign of the times that no one has $$ to do the necessary stuff.  We almost had to cancel our trip to Calgary until some back-pay we were waiting for arrived.  A week staying at my sister's house in a different city -- that's our vacation for this year.  That's all we can afford, too.

Our Ladies Dessert Night was a great success!  We live in a town of just over 500 people.  We had 115 ladies come out for our evening.  We had a girl bring special music.  She's the daughter of the woman we had speaking, and has a lovely voice.  She sang several songs, but the main one was her own version of "I Did it Anyway".  And Kathleen spoke on "Hospitality"  She had us rolling on the floor laughing.  I've heard her speak before, and she is very good at taking a serious subject and making you laugh over her illustrations of how some people handle it.

Now I'd better "handle it" and post this thing before I run out of space and lose it all. . .  Have a good day, everyone!  {:-)
