Good Afternoon Everyone,

Today's has been much smoother!  Yesterday was frustrating!  Dinner with my daughter & grandson last night made the day all better.  Especially all the hugs from my 23 yr. old grandson.  Hugs make everything better.  We had a delicious dinner at a Thai restaurant that I always thought was a dive!  Appearances can be deceiving.  The inside was sparkling clean, nice decor & a very attentive wait staff, but not intrusive.  The food was so good.  We had a shared appetizer that was yummy & then each of us ordered one of the curry's on the menu.  My plate did not have a morsel left on it.  The food was so good, so flavorful.  I'm looking forward to going back to try some of the other dishes on the menu.  Time with my daughter & grandson made dinner even better.

The photo above is 2 ducks on a rock in the Willamette River.  Maybe not a good choice as it is hard to tell the ducks from the rock!!    It is easier to distinguish them when the picture is larger!  I tried!!

I have recently read two books.  The first was The Garner Files by James Garner which was interesting.  He mostly talked about his career, a little about how he grew up & where, then a little about his wife & daughters.  I would have to say he prefers to keep his private life private.  He is someone you would want on your side as he always tries to help the under dog.  On set he never allowed crew to be bullied or abused.  Most of the abuse is verbal but can still be hurtful.  Very enjoyable reading this story.  I loved The Rockford Files which is one of his better known TV stints.  The forward in the book was done by Julie Andrews a women I have admired for her films & her talent.  After that I needed something romance which led me to choose one of the Blaze books I won.  The book was Night After Night by Kathy Lyons who also writes as Jade Lee, I liked the story & the concept of shared dreams while you sleep.  Interesting idea to think about.

You all know I am headed to Oregon next month.  Due to what is going on with other people I have had to change my plans about when I leave & when I will be visiting family.  Today we got a notice that they will be repaving our parking lot about the time I was planning to leave.  This means we cannot park anywhere on the property & there is very little street parking in this area.  There is a park next door but I'm not sure we could park there for the 48 hours.  The parking lot needs to cure before we can come back!!  Grrrrrrr!  It is just the timing!!  I'm hoping after talking to my cousin & my friend in Klamath that I can leave a day earlier and be gone to miss the whole episode!  Life just loves to keep us challenged.  If I wait to leave that means carrying my luggage, etc. to wherever the car is!!  It is bad enough doing it when it is here.  Have I mentioned I never learned to travel light!!!!   :-)

I think this catches me up for now.  I hope Donna H is enjoying her trip.  She is so talented.  I'm glad she was able to post a picture of her painting.

Cady, I hope your daughter has fun with her sleepover.  It is so hard when you don't get invited to a birthday party you wanted to attend especially at her age.  Did Luke's doctor appointment go okay?  Hope the rest of your week is smooth.

Everyone is aware of gas prices going up!  I had a shocker yesterday when I filled up.  In the last week or so gas prices here have escalated to the ridiculous.  My gas tank hold 13 or maybe 14 gallons, it was pushing on empty, my fill up cost me $52.09 for 12.40 gallons.  I almost had a heart attack!  Heaven only knows how much my trip will cost.  The last one was bad enough.  I can check gas prices at Gas Buddy website which I often do.  I filled up at COSTCO where it was $4.199 a gallon which right now at prices in this area is pretty cheap.  Cheap!!!!  Not!  Rarely do I let it get that low, probably won't again very soon.

Sandi, I read your post but I am totally blanking out.  Sorry!  Oh, how was book club?.  At least I remembered one thing.  :-)

I need to pay bills, get off the computer & go back to let the cat out & about.  I also plan to sit on the front porch to read.  The street I am on has nice house with most yards full of pretty flowers & all well maintained.  It is a dead end street so not a lot of traffic.  The porch is an extra perk for me that I enjoy as much as I can.

One more picture to end the loooong post!  This is a whale in a river which is not where it belonged.  You would not believe the crowds it attracted.  I saw this last year on my way to & from Oregon.  I'm sorry to report that eventually as the river got lower & lower the whale never made it back out to the ocean.  It beached somewhere & died.  They tried everything possible to get it back out in its ocean environment but it just didn't go.  It was in the river for about a month.  Originally there was a calf with it.  The calf did get back out Mama did not.

Have a good evening.  Happy reading,
Donna M
