I hope you all had a Happy Mother's Day!
It has been a busy week. I finally got to catch up on all the posts.
Amanda, You all look great. Your girls are getting so big!
Cady, I hope you are all fully recovered from the flu. Sorry to hear about Mikes accident. Good news that he was okay but not so much that the car was totaled. I hope it all works out. I have a hold on The Last Boyfriend. I think it is really interesting how NR decided to set the stories in her own hometown and her own hotel. I read a bit about the hotel from her website.
DonnaM, The library is in Gilroy. I was only able to find a few pictures online from the local paper but none of the opening day. But the place is huge. I read a few Shiloh Walker stories and I like them.
Mary, Yum! Your pasta dish sounds really good. I wrote it down. I love that kind of stuff.
DonnaH, Congratulations on the success of your ladies luncheon. Sounds like you all had a really good time. We planted a few vegetables at the end of April. Two tomato plants and one Cherri tomato, two jalapeno, four zucchini and four cucumber. My uncle weed whacked by Cherri tomatoes by accident so I bought another one. Then a couple of days ago we found that one of the jalapeno plants was totally missing as well as one of the tomato plants being very Wilted after looking so good. I think a gopher or some animal sucked that jalapeno through the ground like those Bugs Bunny cartoons because there is not a trace of it.
Anyone know how to get rid of a gopher!
Trudy, I'm glad you got that A/C working. I've been to Florida in June and was dying from the humidity. Good thing you are getting it taken care of now! I read How Beauty Tamed The Beast by Eloise James and really enjoyed it. I also read the other two fairytale theme books by her and they were also good. I think the next one is out in September.
Sandi, No I didn't get the Catherine Mann book because WalMart didn't have it on the shelf. I ended up getting the Desire by Maya Banks and the Julie Miller books. I also stopped at the library and got a book by a new to me author, Marliss Melton.
I finished Celebrity In Death and it was good but started getting a bit slow for me toward the end. I then decided to read the book I picked up at the library by M. Melton. It is called Forget Me Not.
It turned out to be a perfect Mom book for May.
It is about a women with a daughter who married a Navy SEAL. It starts out with her having gone a year with her husband missing and believed dead. He is finally pronounced dead but shortly after that he is rescued and comes home but with no memory of the last three years. He must go through counseling about his captivity and he is feeling vulnerable and is calmed to know he has a family to help him through it.
Although the h is glad he is alive she is also feeling guilty that she is not in love with him and doesn't want to be with him anymore. The first year of their marriage was fine but not what she had hoped because he was not completely there. Then the next year he really pulled away and finally he was gone from their lives a full year. She had to become independent and loves her new job and the feeling of accomplishment she gets.
She decides that she will only stay with him until he gets a bit settled. He's never really needed her or her daughter before and he'll be fine without them. But he does want the marriage and her daughter is starved for a fathers love. Now he is finally offering everything she ever dreamed but she can't forget how distant he was in the past and she just knows that once he regains his memories he will go back to those old ways leaving her and her daughter hurt even more. I liked that there were a few scenes with the daughters POV. She is just thirteen and wants a dad in her life so bad and now he is finally acting like a dad but she knows mom is not going to stay with him. There is some suspense about trying to find out who betrayed him and doesn' t want him to get his memory back. It was a good story.
I then read a Nocturne by Nalini Singh. It was the 4th and last book in a multi author series. I was able to enjoy that book even though I had not read the others.
I also read another new to me author. Christie Craig. The book was Divorced, Desperate and Delicious. It is the first in a trilogy of three girlfriends that each get involved in a bit of suspense. This one was very cute and fun. The story got resolved so I think each story has its own main suspense and they are only connected by character. I really liked this author. I have book three but my friend has book two so I have to wait for her to finish it before continuing.
Not sure what is next. I hope you all enjoy your Monday.
Margie :)
