Cloudy Tuesday, 7/17/2012...
Good almost Afternoon (at least when I start this) Friends,
Here is a close up of the layers of color in the rock formations at Zion. Yesterday I said the tunnel was 1 1/2 miles long but I was wrong, it is only a mile. At the time it was done it was considered a huge feat to blast through solid rock. I don't remember when it was done but quite a long time ago. One thing I want to mention is that the National Parks I have been to are so accessible to a lot of people. Some have hiking trails that are only for those with good experience but the main sections of all the parks are easy walking for the most part. Kudos to the people that designed & carried out the accessibility. It was also done without spoiling what Mother Nature took years to create.
Margie, are getting excited about your trip to Disneyland? Silly question probably!! I always loved seeing my girls reactions when we took them places. When we took them to Disneyland it was a much different place than it is now. Even then it was pretty expensive but now it seems almost not feasible for most families. You & Donna H both mentioned reading Lindsay McKenna. I always read her Morgan's Mercenaries books, loved them! I have not kept up with her newer work. I keep discovering so many authors! I also am not reading many of any books published by Harlequin/Silhouette these days. Some but not many. I either seem to read Blaze, MIRA or HQN as those lines seems to fit my taste in reading.
Donna H, I don't know what 30C translates to in F degrees. Will the rain spoil the strawberries you plan to pick? In this area if we get the unusual rain during summer or early fall it usually means damage to gardens & crops grown around here. The grapes are especially vulnerable when it is close to time to harvest. Good luck with the camaflouge job.
Amanda, I enjoyed your pictures. Glad to see someone else posting them!! I love the one of the reindeer. That is quite a rack of horns. The scene with the creek in the back looks lovely. I seem to be very attracted to water!! Be sure to let us know what you think of Wuthering Heights. I've read the book you mentioned by Leslie Kelly, she is a favorite of mine. Some of her books for other publishers were really outstanding. When I was your age I wasn't getting to take these travels either. After the kids are grown & out on their own you have more flexibility in where & when you go. Anyway that is how it has worked out for me. Finances seem to always been the deciding factor.
Yesterday I tried to renew my library book The End of Illness but there is a hold on it so back it goes. It is due today. I wrote down where I stopped so I can maybe check it out again at a later time. There are 4 more books waiting for me now!! I went on a crazy "request books" marathon last week! I had jotted down all kinds of book I was hoping to find & several are now waiting to be picked up. They are a real wide variety of reading material!! Since I stopped reading the library book I picked up a book by Karen Rose that I've been wanting to get into. The name is No One Left To Tel, it is her latest out in paperback. Her books are very intense, lots of suspense & some horrific crimes but also wonderful romance to offset the hard part. I haven't read enough of this one yet to form much of an opinion but everything else of hers I've read has been excellent.
There is work waiting for me! There always is!!! Tomorrow & Thursday I will be gone most of the day so I need to get some things taken care of today. Plus it is lunch time! Very important!!
Another picture in Zion. It is darker than I'd like but gives you more of an overall view of what you see.
Have a great day. Happy reading,
Donna M
