T.G.I.F., 7/27/2012...
Hello to Everyone,
Here is a close up picture of lichen on the rocks at the coast. There are some grasses in the front of the rock. This shows some of the texture & life that thrives by the ocean.
Cady, that is pretty much what any Capraese Salad recipe would be. I don't remember if any of the ones I have had in a restaurant have garlic! That means nothing. I'm a big fan of garlic. Tomorrow at Farmers Market I am going to be looking for more tomatoes. Yum! Lucky you not getting caught in the rain. It sounds like you & the kids had a nice afternoon. Have they rescheduled the baseball game? Somehow it seems unfair when it gets dragged out.
Donna H, that is quite a process to camouflage a vehicle. I don't think I would have the patience for that!! You are a woman of many talents. How scary about your tree. I hope it doesn't have to come down either but it seems that might be a devastating blow. Thankfully it did not go toward the house. When I was still living at home we had a similar thing happen. Daddy was out hunting so not at home to help. A storm came through Medford, OR. where I grew up that was hurricane strength. Not something you would expect in our area. It was quite the experience. Anyway, there was a tree on the property line that was between our house & our neighbors. The big old Locust tree went down & literally filled up our back yard. It was awesome. Had it fallen more in one direction it would have hit our house. If it had fallen another way it was have probably demolished the neighbors house. Since Daddy was not there one of the neighbors behind us came over & used his chain saw so we could get out the back door. Daddy was quite surprised when he came back home. We also didn't know if he was okay or if the storm was as bad where he & his friends were hunting. This was long before cell phones!!
Yesterday I spent the day with the grand kids again. By the time I took them home I was tired! :-) A good tired. We didn't do anything special just stayed here in Healdsburg. I took them to some of my favorite places & we ate at a local hamburger place that I like. Boy does the price go up when you feed three!!! I forget how it adds up!! We did a short hike at Healdsburg Ridge where I like to go. They had a good time the day before at the ball game but the Giants lost. They said getting home after the game took forever! Not surprising as traffic from San Francisco north is always busy & especially after a ball game. That is a time when you really need patience!
I'm almost finished with a library book, more than ready to move onto something else. More when I post about the book! Someone mentioned trying to post a book cover. If you go to Amazon or Fresh Fiction, right click on the book cover, click on copy, then come back to your post here, click on paste, that should get you just the cover.
Okay I best get myself in gear. I have no energy or ambition today after two days of busy!!! I want to finish my book, do some chores, go to the store & veg!! Tonight I want to watch the opening ceremony for the Olympics. I like watching but it is always too long. Here is a picture to say good bye for now! These were tiny little succulent plants that I discovered on this rock. They were cute & very tiny!! The rock was large!!
Enjoy your weekend, happy reading,
Donna M
