Hello everyone, I may or may not be able to post this as we've had several major power bumps in the last couple of days, and it took me over 2 hrs this afternoon to get my computer up and running. It is very, very slow, so I may have to unplug it and take it to my friend, John, who has agreed to see what he could do with it. So if I go missing, for any length of time, you'll understand why.
He's also agreed to re-wire my "Emil" for me. I inherited (seeing as my folks don't put up a large tree at Christmas any more, they've given away all the ornaments, and I inherited the tree topper) an angel -- called Emil -- which is as old as I am. It is the first tree topper my parents bought when my dad got back from WWII -- he was a mechanic in the airforce. They got married in June 1944, and spent their honeymoon on a train to Ontario where he shipped out & mom came back and spent the next couple of years living with her folks while he was gone. I was born in Jan, 1947, about 9 months after he got back {;-) So their first Christmas together as a married couple would have been a month before I arrived, therefore, "Emil" is as old as I am. Waaaay back then they used actual rubber to cover electric cords, which has since deteriorated, and John has offered to replace the wire for me. It's not something Hardy can do, as the ends are soldered, and the socket is made to fit into Emil's back, and I've not been able to find another one that will fit.
Sandi, was that footage of that van taken with your security camera? I'd say "cool" but I guess it wasn't to the people involved. . . Was there much damage done to your building?
I missed writing down a whole bunch of the book titles I read, so I've given up for this year. I got up to #74, and that was around the middle of May. {:-( I picked up some Suzanne Brockmann books from the library, so my TBR pile continues to grow as I order more and more books and don't get around to reading them. I just finished reading "Time Enough for Love", a time-travel suspense, which was different than what I usually read, but quite enjoyable. I liked that "Chuck" and "Charlie" merged into one person after the seven years that he had travelled back had passed. Then I started to read The Stand-in Groom, only to discover that I had read it not that long ago. That's what happens when you try to hurry as you're picking out books to read. Now I'm reading Infamous. It again, is different than I'm used to, but only because it has a "ghost", who speaks in the first person, while the H and h are He and she.
Very cool pictures, Donna. I love the ones of that canyon -- with the layers and pillars.
I know I was going to make a couple more comments about stuff, but can't remember what they were. Guess I'd better try and post this before my computer does something else stupid and I end up losing everything.
