Good Afternoon Friends,

Did you all have a good weekend?  I thought it was time to move on into Zion a little further.  I can't begin to tell you what an amazing place this is to experience.  As I mentioned before about other places there is not a bad view anywhere.  There is so much to see you just can't take it all in.  Thank heavens for all the pull outs.

My weekend was quiet.  Did not do much of anything.  I can't remember if I ever mentioned that I finished At Last by Jill Shalvis.  This book is a part of the Lucky Harbor series.  Sooooo good!  Each chapter begins with a quote about chocolate.  All the quotes are good.  Now I am reading a book by a doctor called The End of Illness.  There is a lot of absorb as far as the information & I am only up to page 102 or something like that!  You can't read it or I can't like a story.  It is due tomorrow, guess I better renew.  It is written for the lay person but it sometimes boggles my mind when it comes to what is being explained.  I like some of his ideas about taking care of our health.  Yes, I saw him on a talk show!!!

Margie, I imagine it was fun taking Gavin to the beach.  I never tire of going.  I haven't been down to the beaches closer to you in a long long time.  I'm thinking about trying to take a short trip down that way later in the year.  At this point I just have to wait to see if it is feasible.  The other choice is maybe going somewhere in the Lake Tahoe or Truckee area as I would love to see more of that.  I've only been to Lake Tahoe once.

Trudy, it sounds like the concert was a great success.  Did you get any pictures?  What fun to meet his wife & daughter.  We rarely get thunderstorms here.  Due to that it is kind of exciting.  If they were happening everyday I'm sure I would not feel that way.  You were the coolest, weather wise!  That is interesting.

We have cooled down considerable since last week.  I'm so happy about that.  The last 3 mornings have been cool & foggy with the sun coming out later in the day.  Today is suppose to be in the low 70's, my kind of weather.  Thursday I'm getting together with the grandkids visiting from Oregon.  That hasn't been confirmed yet.  I need to email them or phone!!  Remember that old fashioned instrument, the phone!!   :-)

My laundry will be ready to come out of the dryer soon so I best be closing for now.  I think Cady asked me about my pet sitting.  My "people" are just not traveling as much this year.  I do have a short one coming up at the very end of this month & into the first few days of August.  There is something in September & I just got an inquiry about a few days in October.  All of these people don't travel much in summer.  Like me they are retired so can travel at other times.  The August one is just a short trip celebrating their 30th anniversary.

Here is another picture from Zion.  That hole looks into a tunnel that you go through getting into the park.  It is an amazing feat of engineering.  If I'm remembering correctly the tunnel is 1 1/2 miles long.  That is really long & it feels like it as you go through.  The traffic was one way when we went through.  Maybe because there were so many vehicles that day.  There are no pedestrians or bicycles allowed in the tunnel.  There are several of these "holes" as you drive through but you are not allowed to stop as there are no pull overs.  The glimpse of scenery is enticing which makes you want to stop but it is a no-no!!

I'll say good bye for now.  Enjoy the rest of the day.
Happy reading,
Donna M
