Wednesday evening, 7/25/2012...

Hi to Everyone,

It is late in the day for me to post, but I goofed off away from home today!  I had a couple of things I wanted to do so off I went, did a bit of shopping, dropped some books off for a library sale, picked up some books at the library here in town, went to AAA for a couple of things, also had lunch at my favorite little Mexican place.  Nothing exciting but it was a good day & I did get some things I needed.

The picture above is out at my "private" little spot on the coast.  It is a baby pine cone.  I think it would look on a Christmas card.

Since I was out playing around I didn't get a whole lot of reading done but a bit.  When I was at the library I found a couple of books on California that feature back roads & more unusual places to go.  I think one of them is not going to be to useful but the others have possibilities.  I have a travel urge but can't really spend much money.  I won't know until fall wether I can indulge myself.  I'm thinking about going down around the Monterey Bay area or up in the Sierra's.  The Sierra's cover a lot of territory.  I've seen a small portion.  It has been many, many years since I was down around the Monterey Bay area.   Whatever I do I will have my camera!!!  Thanks for the compliments on the pictures I post.  It is nice to have an audience.

Tomorrow I'm spending the day with the grandkids again.  Today they went to a Giants game.  They will tell me all about it tomorrow.  I'm not a baseball fan.

Mary & Amanda, I think the football players for Penn State are being punished for something two coaches did.  I really don't get that.  The fine I understand & removing the honors on Joe Paterno I get, but not all the other.  It is just amazing that there are those still willing to cover up the crime of child abuse is any form.  I'm sorry to say that in the bay area it seems a coach, priest, teacher or someone working with children get accused way to often.  There are times others knew but did nothing.  I just don't get it.

Amanda, I like your picture.  It is so country, in a good way.  I'm sure you will be happy when the computer problems at work end.  What a pain.  You do have several amusement parks nearby.  Nice to have all the choices.

Mary,  I'll be curious to see what you say about the Karen Rose book.  I loved pudding as a child.  Partly because it is probably one of the first things I learned to make in the kitchen.  The other thing Mom taught me was Chocolate Chip cookies, yum, after that I pretty much learned on my own.  Victoria Holt is an author I read when I was much younger, maybe in my late teens.

This is it for now.  I try not to be boring!!  Here is another picture to say good bye.  This is a close up of tree bark.  Maybe a pine tree that has been weathered by the wind, fog & weather at the coast.  There is also a form of moss on the bark.  It seemed interesting to me for the texture & patterns.

Good night, happy reading,
Donna M
