Hi guys!
It is good to see so many of us checking in. I still have not heard if my brother's power is back on. He sent me a text yesterday and all it said was Happy 4th! The day before his email sounded like he was really bummed. Thanks for your concern. I had heard about the gas station situation from one of the library ladies today whose mom is traveling up from Florida. She was told to make sure she had a full tank before going through VA.
Cady--I have never stayed on the Outer Banks but spent lots of time at my late aunt's place outside of Beaufort. The beaches are beautiful there and yes the ocean water isn't as cold as it can be in New Jersey and farther north which makes it nice. Don and I are actually talking about a beach vacation in Sept. and one of the places we thought about is the O.B. That is great that you were able to get Maggie's 'friend'. Karen had a bear that went everywhere with her. When she went off the college she was sure she was ready to leave him behind. Guess what? I had to end up sending it by mail! I still have it put away in her old room. Just can't get rid of that bear. :-)
Donna H--it was good to see you in here.
Donna M--I am like you with the grocery list. I just put general things on my list to remember. Don, however, needs a detailed list. Of course I always get at least one call while he is shopping with a question.
Amanda--I hope you are having a good time on your vacation. I have read Wuthering Heights. It is intense. I will be curious to see what you think.
Sandi--I had suspected it was something like that with Linda Castillo and Harlequin. Her later books are very suspenseful and intense. In the Amish series the heroine does have a love interest but it is secondary to the suspense. I would love to do over our kitchen but we need so many other things first. Let us know how the planning goes. I have said similar things to Don able just being nice to me and no complaining or 'let's do it my way.'
Don and I went to Olive Garder for dinner on the 4th. It was nice--not crowded or noisy. I finished reading Rattlesnake Crossing and it was very good--probably my favorite of the series so far. Not sure what I will read next. I picked up Nora's The Last Boyfriend at the library today so maybe I will read that next. Any ideas for a July book? Maybe a book with a warm/hot setting?
I hope everyone is having a good week.
Mary
