T.G.I.F., 7/13/2012...
Happy Friday to All,
It may be Friday the 13th but I'm trusting that it will be a good day! The above picture is coming into Zion National Park. Another special & amazing place. I would love to go back to any of them or all of them at any time. That said we also have very special places here where I live. Yesterday I drove over to the coast to escape the heat. Pictures will come at some point! My Clam Chowder was eaten while I sat on Bodega Head overlooking the ocean. A great place to "do lunch!". It was windy there, not unusual!! Sometimes it is windy there but not in other places along the coast. Before I even left home I decided to drive much further north than what I usually do. It is a part of the coast I don't go to as much. After yesterday I decided I need to go up that section more often. I happened upon a special little spot that I found because I had pulled over to have a drink of water! There just happened to be a path there that I decided to explore. Good decision. I ended up on a cliff overlooking the coast. There was just me, the waves, birds, quiet & the beauty of Mother Nature. What more could a person want? It was much cooler than at home but not at all cold. I had on a shirt with 3/4 length sleeves, never put a jacket on all day. It was wonderful, refreshing & a day well spent.
Sandi, that is exciting that you will get to do all that to your kitchen, laundry room, etc. I hope it all works out. It seems like the kitchen is really one of the most important rooms in a house. After we bought our house (when I was married!) I swore I would never have another house that I didn't just love the kitchen. As a renter that hasn't been possible!! Such is life. Work sounds like it could drive you right out of your mind. It is always amazing to me how the blame for things end up on the wrong people. I hope it improves.
Amanda, sounds like your vacation is getting mixed reviews. Tough spot to be with no electricity. I've been in that position only at home. When I was married we lived in the country, no electricity, no water. People don't realize that most pumps run on electricity. One time our pump went out & they had to wait 3 days for a part or a pump! It has been so long ago I forget which! Anyway, after a day or 2 one of the neighbors hooked us up into his pump with a hose. I cannot tell you how grateful I was. We only had 4 people in the house but that was not something I care to experience again! I look forward to seeing your pictures. Hope your work also gets better.
Donna H, congratulations on the weight loss & such good results at the doctor. I am sure you are glad to be feeling better. What a good story as to why your top ornament was called Emil. Yummmmm, lasagna! It has been much to hot here to use the oven. I rarely do in the summer.
I don't remember if it was Cady or Mary that mentioned a video on the Michigan lake front. Maybe both of you mentioned different things!! Oh yea, Mary mentioned a National Park program. The brain registered them together I guess!!!! I don't get LivingWell, I don't think. I'll see if I can check out either one of those online. I'm going to go back to those posts so I can see exactly what each was.
Mary, I'm glad your heat & humidity broke. Heat is bad enough without the humidity. Like you I have had some lamps for longer than I care to think about. I have found lamps I loved but mostly they were to expensive. Just before my last trip to Oregon I saw a lamp I loved that had the right price. I decided I better not spend the money just before the trip because it is hard now to figure out how much gas & other things will cost. Good thing I made that decision. It probably is not going to be there when I get a chance to go back to look. Maybe I'll find something else someday. I haven't been pet sitting much & that is where my extra spending money comes from.
Margie, I hope you do get to go to Cars Land when you go to Disneyland. You are so right it will be very crowded because it is new. You were so smart to paint before you moved into your house. It is so much easier when a place is not occupied.
Everyone this has been really long winded! Guess that is what happens when I don't show up for a couple of days! Here is another picture coming into Zion National Park. This formation just fascinated me.
Have a great weekend, may your weather be kind. Find time to read.
Donna M
